Hey everyone I was just wondering if anyone that has done rear suspension work with old man emu rear shocks, can you confirm that this is correct? I feel as if this is too close, are the rear shocks both the same size or are they different very slightly like first generation tacomas?

Here is what the drivers rear shock looks like bolted up in the mount.

Is this on your 06? And is that the stock axle?

There were reports of this happening I want to say on the 2014+ or 2015s due to a slight change in the shock mount.

Rear 2nd gen shocks are the same on either side

You can use an angle grinder to create a lil clearance

This is my 06 yes, now this was the one that got the rear end wrecked in the pole accident. Think its possible that the new rear axle that they gave me was an updated model or something with different mounts? My original axle tubing got bent.

Shit why didnt i think of that, i will just give it a quick wizz semi evenly and paint it up. Thanks man, its the simple shit you just dont think of sometimes :D yet i already got the grinder out so i could remove the old one and cut a notch in the shock piston

Nope thats the right one, everything else matches up fine, just had to zip off like a millimeter of metal on either mount.

That explains it! you got a new axle with the slightly different lower brackets that were found starting on 2015 trucks.

Lil grinding in the right spot to create some clearance wont hurt structural integrity and the shock will be much happier!

They are both in there just fine now, they were really close and now i can see daylight between the shock and the mount so thats good enough for me!
