I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but if you feel safe that’s all that matters.

Yeah, side curtain airbags started in 08. It’s still something to consider. It could be a serious safety issue.

They’ll likely be very similar if not the same as long as the connector is the same, which it should be.

The FRS seats I put in gave me no issues. Swapped over my OEM airbag connectors and all is good.

I actually got my base model 14's seats reupholstered recently by a professional shop (same stock coverings) but added 1" dense foam and while they were open, figured I'd throw some seat heaters in there as well and couldnt be happier. Best $350 I've spent on my truck yet. I went through all my options of replacing with new, used, non-oem, etc and this was the best solution and so far it's worked out. Nice and firm in all the right spots, thigh area, lower lumbar. Not a bad idea to try if you're running out of options!

I have a 12 and the seat has a lumbar support adjustment knob for those having comfort issues see if yours has the same. for me at 6'3" it also gets a bit uncomfortable on long rides. I would swap for the TRD pro leather seats any day if they fit though.

Well I guess I’m about to resurrect this thread, lol. I’m doing the exact opposite- I recently bought a very cheap 2005 TRD sport and found the Sport seats to be way more comfortable than my 3rd gen. The sport seats have nice tight bolsters and fit my 6’0 165lb frame a lot better- I was gonna swap them over tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes....

If they fit, I’ll need 2nd gen seat covers cause these ones are beat to hell!

i had had an old dodge dakota that would kill my back. i never realized how bad it was until one day i had my girlfriend drive and i sat in the passenger seat, and i say "holy crap! this seat is way more comfortable!" i also looked at other replacement options and nothing else seemed right. so i bought some foam padding and glue and i rebuilt where the foam had rotted. that instantly fixed my problem! from then on i had nice comfortable trips. So, i recommend rebuilding a seat for sure!

2nd gen TRD Seats.. I mean they aren’t seats you’ll find in a 60k full size pickup but they’re pretty comfy for me. I’m a big boi if that matters. Also have lumbar support set.

It's funny, I never saw this thread before, but yes, 3rd gen seats will bolt in to a 2nd gen. Since my truck is an '05, I didn't have to worry about the seat airbags, and I had to use my original seat belt buckle receptacles, but other than that, no issues.

You beat me by 5 minutes, lol. The seats are identical other than the air bags and cover materials used.

As far as seat position/height I'm working on it. The 2nd gens have only been out for 15 years and I need you all to have a little patience (LOL).

The crap shoving into my lower back combined with no leg support - THE SEAT POSITION SUCKS!

Can you post the data from the crash testing you did?

Crash testing? LMFAO!!! Sub Par you are indeed!

The only consideration is bolt strength and that information will be posted when I'm ready to post it.

Holy crap you think the solid block of aluminum that guy used is dangerous LMFAO AGAIN!!

I will say this, your comedy isn't sub par at all.

I sincerely hope you are not horrifically injured in the event of a crash.

I'd really like to know your thought process on this matter... is the solid block of aluminum going to break? Is the additional height going to cause adverse affects with air bags or seat belts? Is the additional hardness of a greater strength bolt than stock going to make the bolt break too easily? I really would like to know your thoughts on this exact topic.

Manufacturers spend millions of dollars in R+D crash testing to ensure you don't die in a crash and sue them. You are replacing OEM tested hardware with a non OEM and untested bolt and think this is not dangerous? The OEM seat bolts directly to the floor, now your adding a spacer and a longer bolt, and have no idea the shear strength of said bolt. But you said its safe so I mean you're probably an engineer that works for NASA on safety testing, and not just some nut on the internet.

Who stated the non OEM bolt wasn't tested? That is the actual point of the different grades of bolts that are available.

"I have no idea..." is what you should have written - only.

I do know the sheer strengths of the bolts but I guarantee that you don't.

NASA doesn't work on Tacomas. You have no clue what you're writing about. I'm not an engineer as I'm more intelligent than to think a degree immediately makes someone intelligent and has good logical thinking abilities. No, that degree means the person is able to memorize facts and pass tests and that's about it.

Hey you got one thing correct, I am a nut on the internet. I am a nutjob with actual facts instead of feelings and unknowns.
