What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Scored a pair of Sport signal mirrors for sale locally. You guessed it, power mirrors work but NO power to the signals. 5 wires connected to 5 wires.

For now they are on and maybe will ‘wake up’ later.

 

Is that a common issue with the sport mirrors?

The D-rings and the torx bolt that hold it are definitely the weak point. Anyone who owns a Tacoma will more than likely have the right size bit to remove it and walk away with your new Yeti.

 

It is and there is quite a bit of discussion about it. Someone will eventually figure it out and share the news

 

The housing is simple to install and replaces the original fog light. The wiring is simple to do you just have to enter the wires in the H11 male plug ... It took me about 20 minutes.to install.

 

I keep my gun there sometimes!

Dang that sucks. I've heard that most offroads are pre-wired so that the sport mirrors are 100% plug and play if you have those 5 wires.

Those are sweet setups for lowering RTTs onto the truck.

 

I put the proefx tow mirrors on, it was the same thing, the wire was there but didn't work so I wired them up.

 

Its all about load capacity. IF you arent going to be carrying extra weight up front like a bumper, winch, and skids go with the 700lb coils (the 886s, Heavy). if not go with the 650 lb coils (885s, Mediums) The more weight up front the more the springs will sag. It should also be noted you need the toytec 3/4 inch spacer fi you want a full 3" of lift unless you go with the heavy springs

I currently have 885's on mine. You can see from the pictures below the slight change in front ride height as additional weight is added (not perfect side shot comparisons, but you can see some variance).

No no no, not correct. The difference in the springs is mainly the length.

883, 884, 885, 887, and 888 all have the same load rating of 590 lbs, but are different lengths to achieve different amount of lifts. That’s why different configurations (i.e. access cab, DCSB, etc.) need different coils to gain the same amount of lift.

The 886 coils are a 660lb coil, which is why it’s recommended if you have a lot of weight up front. This is what I have on my access cab with about 200lbs up front (bumper and winch) plus full skids and sliders. It rides a lot better than the 884s I had because it can handle the weight.

Since you have an access cab prerunner, some 884 coils should get you about 2.5” of lift, maybe even a little more. If you wanted a full 3” 885s would do the trick, but then you’d want new UCAs so you can get back into alignment and not have a shitty driving truck.
