Can you mount things on the sides? Like a hi lift jack? Or jerry cans? When the rtt is not installed can i just put a 5th wheel on top or is this not really a bed rack and more of just a rtt mount

So on the topic of RTT mattresses [forgive me if this topic is thoroughly covered elsewhere, at first search I couldn't find anything] i've got a Tepui tent and standard stock mattress which i've supplemented with a 2" memory foam topper
    (https://www.overstock.com/Bedding-B...ory-Foam-Mattress-Topper/1080221/product.html).

My wife and I are both side sleepers and the added cushion makes for a nearly perfect (at home esque) sleep. However, in temperatures below 50 degrees the memory foam starts to stiffen and at 20 degrees its nearly concrete. Anyone have a good cold weather mattress supplement fix for this situation? Thanks in advance.

I juat picked up a 2" memory foam top for $20 at the local sporting store. Didnt think about it getting really cold and freezing up like that.

Yeah, I didnt think about it either. Its super comfortable in the summer months but our last outing in the cold it was almost miserable. You can warm it up with body heat and it conforms eventually but as soon as you move or adjust its back to the super stiff clay like feeling. Tough to get the wife out in the cold temps when our bed feels like we are sleeping on the ground.

My RTT mat was pretty stif in 30degree temps. Haven't gotten to try it in the summer months yet but after1 night in fridged temps, i picked up a memory top.

Yeah, crazy story. It was out during the latest garage sale but nobody bought. I stopped by the next day and saw it was still out on the floor and they told me we can still buy it at garage sale price! Picked it up in a heartbeat!

So I participated in the CVT group buy in November. Finally got my rack completed by @JeepAndrew of KMFab and with his help installed yesterday. Here is the final product. First camp out this weekend.

that is a big tent.. 4 straps.. Is it the 3 sisters tent that CVT has? @inesshell

I was going to ask if that is the BAMF rack, but I saw it was someone else. My rack should be done soon, so Ill finally have my tent back on. Its been a grueling 8 weeks without it. Ive missed so much fall camping! Ill be getting it back just in time for that 10 degree winter camping :frusty:

I hate winter.. I am dying to camp, so I might just do it when I get my tent back on.

But recently have been doing a bunch of installs in the winter. From sewing at 15 degrees at 10pm, to installing sound deadening at 10 degrees, last night..

I bought the Mt Rainier Summit Extended. Plan on sleeping with the wife and kiddos, so I wanted a big tent.

Edit: I am very pleased with the rack. I was looking at the BAMF too but they didn’t have quite what I wanted for the long bed.
