The wife is looking at buying a 2017 Tacoma.
She found one she loves, it’s a Inferno Red TRD Sport DCLB 4x4. No technology package, just the basics such as floor mats, mud flaps, bed tie downs/bed liner, etc. She got it to $36,800 w TTL. Anybody wanna put their input on this? Go for it or can they do a little better? This is on the west coast too.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I would go for a better price -- or work on a 2018, seems like some are getting great deals on the 18's. In Ca.? that may be a issue in itself? In (mid -Mo.) Toyota seemed to "dump" their excess 17 inventory --there is about 40some 17s within 35 miles of where I live, and the 18's are few and far between. My local dealer has only one lonely 18 SR white 2wd for sale. Only way I could see it was a 18 was the "solid" Toyota logo (for the "Safety sense"). the other dealer has only 4 -2 SR's 1 SR5 and a "cute" blue "Pro" (stickered 46,895). Appearently the delivery truck drivers for their 18's forgot how to get to Central Mo! That's only 5 in a wide geographical area.

Here is what I got a week ago here in Los Angeles for comparison:

2017 Double Cab Short Bed Off Road in Mag Gray
Premium & Tech package with JBL
    Tow Package
    5" Black Oval Side Steps
    Bed Step
    Alloy Wheel Locks
    Spare Lock
    Bed D-Rings
    Those bed tie things
    All weather mats

    MSRP was $41,00
    Paid $35,500

    That does NOT include TTL.

That's a couple hundred more than the DCSB OR with P&T I got in April '17 in NH. Seems like you're paying a bit of a premium for the long bed. (not sure that Sport+LB should be greater than OR short bed + P&T).

There's a big thread about how much people are paying for their 2017 tacomas:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-much-are-you-paying-for-your-2017-tacoma.444691/

You might be able to cull info in there to see if your deal is in the ballpark with other folks. But I'd think with the 2018's coming, you should be able to get a better price... but that's just a guess.

Also -- remember Tow pkg is STD. on all 18 4x4's -- I paid 650 for that on my 17

    1. If she likes it and she's happy with that price, that's all that really matters.
    2. If you really want to compare, what's the price before TTL? That will be better to use as a comparison to other numbers you're seeing on here, because TTL can vary wildly from state to state.

Ttl in CA is about 11%, so it's probably a good deal, but w/of knowing msrp and negotiated price it's hard to say

    What’s the sticker price?

I got my 2017 TRD OR out the door for 33 and change. Sticker was 38,268, but I didn’t get the JBL or Tech, but I have navigation the bigger screen etc.... Tell her to go back down there and tell them she wants another 1,000.00 for her trade and another 500.00 off sticker. That would make it a better deal.

Here is the TrueCar valuation of a 2017 Double Car Long Bed with the Auto Trans & Tow Package which is what I think the car you are looking at has. This is for my area but should give you an idea of what others are paying. Keep in mind, this does NOT include tax and license. It does include delivery fee though.

Based on that and an assumed 11% TTL per @Juggernaut, OP would be getting an exceptional price ($33150 prior to TTL).

Correct. That's assuming its a DCLB Sport Auto Trans with the Tow Package. And its for zip code 91326.

That's the big problem with these threads comparing street prices. People post the price quoted/paid without any specs on the truck. Also, posting "out the door" price further convolutes the issue. People's definition of OTD is differs. And tax and license fees vary greatly by state. We Californians have the privilege of paying 11% more for a car where many states it's dramatically less.

My OTD price of 33,365 includes TTL. I added a TRD Exhaust and Rubber mats and TRD shift knob, radiator cap and Oil cap. That was roughly another 1,000 on top of the 37,268.00. We have 3% car sales tax in NC. Here is my window sticker to see what my truck came with.

The tow package is a question mark, but it's a $750 option, so the price would still basically be "exceptional" assuming your zip code, but OP just said "west coast" so it's anybody's guess.

I agree completely. P&T package is something like $2000 difference, Long bed vs short bed is around $1000 difference, etc. And out the door price comparison is completely worthless unless you also provide the TTL breakdown, in which case you may as well just list the price before TTL.

In the end it doesn't really matter because value is not completely objective anyway. So to the OP, I still say if the wife likes the truck $36,800 worth, then just go for it and enjoy the truck.

    3%!!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek: I hate you right now.

Here is the ridiculous amount we pay in Los Angeles county to give you some perspective. This is for my Taco.

And keep in mind, we just got hit with another increase on DMV fees for 2018. I just missed it but will have to pay it next year. It adds another $150 do the registration on my Taco.

No idea truck prices over there but I paid less for my 2018 TRD OR, manual trans, tech package, all weather mats, mud flaps, all window tinted, 3m film everywhere, tow package, new tires (wrangler duratracs), and an extra interior/ exterior coverage package for 84 months. 35k out the door

How are your tags every year? I get hit every year for about 510.00 to renew tags, plus a 35.00 inspection fee you have to get PRIOR to paying your tag renewal.
