Neighbor has 1st generation. Driver door is open and lock is in lock position so door won't close. When fob is used, it tries to unlock... But just stays locked... Sounds familiar but can't remember. Anyone?

 

He said he tried that, I'm getting ready to go over there and check it out

Very interesting....
So the mechanism is jammed. A spring must have broken or something. It will not budge with a screwdriver, and all though using the key makes it sound like its working... and I see the rod inside the door moving/dropping, the actual lock doesn't move... and manually operating the door handle rod does nothing. It is the passenger door, not drivers door. I had to return to my office as my work day is now in full swing. I showed him which clips to remove to get the whole thing out.... and suggested pictures first. He's 18, so can hang with many of you!

Interesting part is... 1995 4WD ForeRunner is sitting in his back yard. They replaced the water pump, and they say it needs timing\tune up. I didn't have him crank it as I had to go... but the body is pretty straight, interior is rough. He wants to sell it... wants to get around 3K... would take closer to 2.5k. 186K miles. Anyone want pics?

 

I say yes cause currently that would put me at 6. Although 2 I don't own. I want 7. Set of keys for each of the days.

 

How about a scooter, 3 wheeler, and a lawn tractor?

Just helped a coworker with a similar problem. Door would not unlock, keyfob was trying to, but couldn't do it. When trying to unlock manually, that wouldn't work either.

I just sold one, so I am down to 5 in my garage, plus one that lives with my dad... all in my name. I am planning to get rid of one more. Next year I plan to buy a Ural. Drag the kids around in the sidecar.
