What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

You shouldn't need a diff drop for that height. I'm about 2-2.5 inches in the front, and i didn't need one. The speedometer won't be off by much at all, I have the same tire size. I would stay away from blocks personally, and maybe go with a 3 leaf progressive add a leaf, they are not that expensive and ride much better than blocks. Extended brake lines would probably be a good idea.

We recommend you read the thread and pick out what you want to do/ what works for you/ what fits your budget.

 

A place to start, Toytec, Icon, OEM and King. IMO Toytec is best bang for buck for the weekend warriors. If you really wheel a lot the others. Just my opinion they are all good products!

 

First 2016 taco i have seen with scratches. I have to wonder about all of these hardcore offroad vehicles in mint condition.

 

Uhmm I do not trust stealerships to do free oil changes, you are fortunate if they remember to put the fill caps on before closing the hood. There is only one reason to go to a stealership: to buy a new vehicle.

 

That all depends. There are actually some dealerships that treat you right without any hassles if anything is wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to put this monster thread together. I know that I’m going to catch a lot of crap for putting a leveling kit (2.25 readylift) on my truck and a (1.5 inch) block in the rear, but I couldn’t justify the cost to install a full lift. So, I wanted to provide everyone with some info, as I didn’t install an ECGS bushing or diff drop, but now I have the vibe that goes away when 4 wheel drive is engaged.

I think the truck looks great (ride hasn't changed), as I got 2.25 inches of lift in the front and 1.5 in the rear. I still have about 1 inch of rake, which I think is perfect with the sport hood scoop (I also have bl super springs in the rear).

Fast forward - I was able to duplicate the vibe with a Toyota technician and my truck is in the shop and Toyota has agreed to replace the needle bearing under warranty (no hassle) following the procedures outlined in T-SB-0026-15, dated May 15, 2015 (applicable to

$73 2005-2015 Toyota Tacoma With 4L Right Petrol intake air snorkel kit high performance system compatible kit Replacement black Rotational Molding (2005-2015)

2005-2015 Tacoma’s). The parts are backordered and should be in Friday. My dealer wouldn't install the ECGS under warranty.

I’ll report back after the repairs are made.

Hope this helps anyone looking to put something similar on their truck.

 

My dealer replaced mine and vibe returned in 150 miles. They ordered and installed the ECGS bushing the second time at no cost since it was dealer installed lift. Hope it works for you...

 

Thanks, 20tacoma17. Only difference here is that I put on the lift. Does your paperwork indicate the work was done under warranty? I'm wondering if I could reference your ticket number, as I'm sure it's going to happen to mine again, but I'm crossing my fingers.

 

Unfortunately mine just reads changed needle bearing. Service manager ordered the part himself.

 

No ECGS?

 

The first time OEM needle bearing. Second one service manager ordered and replace with ESGS at no cost. Invoice just reads "Replaced needle bearing under warranty "

 

update: My dealer fixed the truck by installing a new needle bearing and axle. So far, she's running like new. I wouldn't be shocked if they ordered the ESGS but my paperwork says needle bearing per 2015 recall.

It will come back, if they replaced it with another needle bearing, the vibe will be back eventually. Just go get someone other than toyota install it.

 

Looking from some guidance from the Awesome TW group. I'm getting very close to ordering a Toytec lift and have a question from the group on the rear leaf spring choices. Does anyone have a preference and why, on ToyTecs Boss leaf springs vs. OME Dakar leaf pack?
