Wish I had that dash cam when some ass wipe who can't drive pulled a gun on me in traffic the other afternoon. Sry fuck had his poor kid in a child seat in the back seat too.

What @USDashCamera said was "spot-on" , as the British would say.....

I've got a BlackVue DR650S-2 CH Dash cam and it is very nice.... Great quality video....1080 front/720 rear.
The ONLY issue is the "sensitivity" setting for "movement" is VERY sensitive and cannot be reduced to the level that I want...!! Any leaves move on the trees...it comes on and basically records full time while in Park mode...
    Fix this BlackVue..!!

Dash cams are a great thing to have if you need it...! Mostly a waste of $ if you don't need it..!! Something like car insurance..!

I decided that "I" needed it and have been very happy ever since... (I have recorded 1 "near miss with a grouse and 1 hit by a grouse)...!! That's in 1 full year of recording..!!

PS... The quality in the OP's post is about normal for any "higher-end" cam now days...!

Posted my top 5 dash cams last night if anyone was interested. Many with experience with dash cams might disagree with me, but I did want to include cams from a wide range of prices and features. The Blackvue DR750S-2CH did not make my list but I do mention why I personally prefer the Thinkware F800 Pro, and why the Blackvue DR490/590-2CH still made the list. The 490/590 models from blackvue are half the price of the 750S while still very similar video quality. They lack WiFi but I think saving a few hundred dollars is worth it, and they still have the great automatic parking mode as the 750S. The one main thing they are missing though is cloud support since there is no wifi what so ever, but I think majority of customers would not be able to use the cloud service anyways.

    Check it out:

I appreciate your point but I don't like to come into the forum with a sales pitch. The truck in this video is my fifth Tacoma - I'm an enthusiast. I just happen to work day in and day out for a company that allows me to outfit my vehicles with all sorts of electronic goodness and this just happens one of the times where there was crossover. My point remains - get a dashcam to cover your ass (I don't care what brand).

Just as a quick follow-up to this, I spoke to the other driver's insurance adjuster this morning who has ruled that I am 20% at fault for this accident and that I would need to file a claim with my own insurance instead of them. Their logic is that I did not take "evasive action", which I find hard to believe as I drove up onto the median and almost into oncoming traffic to avoid the guy, so we'll see where it goes from here. Just going to let my insurance company hash it out with theirs.

That's what I've had to do, if you try to fight an insurance company by yourself they will try to make you accept fault. In an accident I felt I was at zero fault they kept trying to say I was partly at fault even tho I was going thru a green light, not speeding, and the woman suddenly pulled out in front of me. Eventually I gave up, went thru my insurance, paid my deductible, but my insurance went after hers and got their money back, refunded my deductible and rates didn't go up.

Get your insurance involved now, instead of trying to fight it yourself. You pay for insurance, let them do their job and fight for you. With the video it is clear that you almost went into on-coming traffic trying to avoid a collision.

Done and done. My insurance had no problem rejecting 100% of their claim so I'm hoping they go to bat for me here.

Just have your attorney call his insurance adjuster, one phone call should do the trick.

i am gauging interest for a potential group buy here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/any-interest-in-a-dash-cam-group-buy.527906/

it would be for street guardian or innovv products. I talk a lot with the street guardian/innovv us disturber so I brought up to him if he would be interested doing something like this. street guardian makes some pretty high quality products that have a lot of support from the company and community. They don't have advanced parking modes like blackvue or thinkware but most of their cameras excel in video quality above all else.

Hey everyone! For those of you wanting the Rostra dual camera dash cam system that incredibillhulk eluded to in his post a few pages back, it's available now!!

More info on the 250-8950 kit below - please note that the system comes with a 3 year warranty too! Cost for TW members is $279 including shipping within the U.S. (plus 6% sales tax if you're in Michigan or plus $25 additional shipping to Canada). Please contact us directly via email to order one - rearviewmirrors@csinet.net . Being that we are an authorized dealer of Rostra products, we don't need to gather up a bunch of orders or do a group buy - individual orders are perfectly fine! When you do, please indicate where you are located, and then we would send you an invoice for the kit thru PayPal, which you can also pay with any credit card just as well. Though we try to keep a small stock of Rostra items in inventory, we aren't able to keep a ton of things in stock...So what that means is it might take several days to get you one of these. But my rep Jeff tells me they're definitely available!
