Refer to your Warranty information book. They have to provide you a detailed written explanation why they are refusing to honor the warranty.
How specifically did my aftermarket lift cause my wheel bearing to fail? Did the lift change the angle of the bearing, did the lift cause the bearing to unseat? Did the lift cause unreasonable stress on the bearing?
If they say it’s the lifts fault, Notify the lift company Toyota is bad mouthing their product. I am thinking the lift company is going to reply with reasons why there lift didn’t cause the failure.
Unfortunately it may take you awhile, Year’s even, to go through arbitration.

if the dealer are ass holes they'll say its the 265 70 17.

bigger tire than factory and heavier so they'll point to it as causing excessive wear on wheel bearing.
But if its a good dealer they'll know a 32 would not cause a bearing to go that fast.

really depends where you go and what their approval is for Toyota Corp

although you're right, you'll be blue in the face before they actually care about that and if you try to go to court they often have bigger better lawyers.

You're better off trying other dealers.

    that's not 100% accurate.

No aftermarket parts cannot void a warranty on something else just because its not OEM. Laws have been written for that now.
But say you install a lift for instance and change your driveshaft angle or something that can and likely will void your warranty if you start getting driveline vibes and they point to the changed angle.

Not saying they are always right in that case but it is pretty easy for them to do so and if you tried to bring it to court they'd win.

    I agree with you completely.
Whats that saying? “buyer beware”. I think anyone who is doing modifications to their vehicle better at least be aware, that you are creating a reason for the manufacturer to refuse honoring the warranty. If you keep the vehicle completely stock=no question, warranty honored. Modify it you might have a fight on your hands. I knew when I had my OME 2 lift put on that Toyota likely wouldn’t honor a suspension warranty issue. I had to have some trust by doing research, and take the chance that OME put out a quality product and my installer had a solid reputation.

After my experience with warranty work when I had my VW I really don't care.

They don't have to repair with new parts they can repair with refurbished parts, its in the fine print.
Problem I had was wiper motor kept fucking up. Had it fixed 3 times under warranty and it kept failing. Making me miss work to go deal with the dealer etc.

In the end was cheaper to just pay to get it done by my mechanic. Fixed one time in the evening after work and yet to ever need to replace it again.

I got the extended on my truck for the engine and trans only.

Otherwise if something breaks I'd try with the dealer if they say no so be it, I'm prepared to pay out of pocket for stuff as to me it will just be upgrade time :D.

Like you though I did my research on what I was buying and just got good quality aftermarket stuff.

Local Toyota dealer has paired with a local off road shop (HTW) & sells this. Not sure how many mods it has but my neighbor drove it home like this a week ago. IMG_4023.jpg

I was quite disappointed when I finally saw for myself that the Pro doesn't actually lift the front of the truck like the 2G Baja / Pro setup. There was a Pro in the showroom at the local dealer so I used my phone as a rudimentary wheel gap measuring the device and figured there might be a 1/4" different at most. I had thought about picking up a takeoff setup from a Pro and get myself a small lift, but nope.

You are correct in that no aftermarket parts will actually VOID a warranty, but you can be denied a warranty claim based upon your aftermarket parts. I was denied a suspension TSB on my 2G because I had ATs. I had the takeoff shudder and they blamed the tires. I had a seat rattle that drove me nuts that I demonstrated by hitting the seat when the truck was parked and they blamed my tires. I went to a second dealer when I had my highway tread snow tires on and they started to do the suspension TSB. The local rep then got a look at my ARB and said that because it weighed the nose of the truck down 1" the driveline angles weren't OEM and wouldn't finish the TSB.

That being said, I had a transmission replaced under warranty post-lift without drama at the dealership that previously blamed my takeoff shudder on ATs, so there's that.

I'd absolutely think if you have a lift and have something in your driveline wear out faster than normal you'd be in trouble getting it covered under warranty. This is no different than people blowing up turbo cars after tuning them and trying to get the dealer to cover the car. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

Huh, maybe I look the part, but when I've had service issues I make it a point to talk to the service writer. They usually ask what you do. I just tell them I'm an attorney. I've never had an issue with my warranty claim being denied...

McGeorge is the largest Toyota dealer in VA?? I didn't know this LOL. My family has been buying Toyotas there forever and I recently ordered/bought a 2017 Cement T4R TRD PRO through them. I bought the Taco at Haley however since they gave me a killer deal.

Regarding mod friendly Toyota service department I heard from all my car/truck friends that Mechanicsville Toyota is the place to go tho.

I was told by Holman Toyota out of NJ that they have been instructed NOT to install lifts on the 2018's due to the Toyota Safty Sense B/S saying lifting the truck will knock the system out of wack.

A coworker had his offroad lifted before he took delievery. It has a toytec spacer lift in the front, not sure if it has anything in the rear but he told me the lift cost him $1300. Seems really high to me.

I have spoke with my toyota dealer a lot about lifts, but they cannot provide what I wanted. They will lift your truck and warranty the work (the warranty on the work and product is what I really wanted!) but they will only use a spacer leveling kit which 1,200, outrageous for what it is, From what i understood this included labor though. They would do 2-3" spacer leveling lifts. They told me no yota dealer would do suspension, but maybe there is an exception to this? This was my experience with my dealer, in Riverhead NY.

as for price to product (spacers) it's a dealer, often you pay for the perception of professionalism and the warranty they provide which can priceless when it is needed. Sad they provide no suspension option though or I would have pulled the trigger then and there. I can do my own work, and have rebuilt carbs and other elements of engines, but sometimes it can be a real hassle and a warranty is nice for peace of mind, if the money isnt an issue.

As it stands I will probably have to continue research and install my own lift, it is looking like a lot to learn 0_0'
thank goodness I was an 88mc for 10 years so I have some marginal background.

I was going to have the dealer install a lift on my truck till I seen what they wanted ($1400) for a block lift. They said (the dealer) would cover warranty issue if they came up but most issues arrive later down the road and they can say usual wear/tear and you are on your own dime then. I passed and did it myself with better quality products...NO BLOCKS!
