Need new shocks on toytec ulk suspension system. It has bilstein but they only go up to 2.5. I have looked but not sure which would be right. Is there another shock that would just slide right into the coils I already have or do I have to use the bilstein it came with. I dont have the tools to compress if that's going to be needed. I would really like a shock that would go right into coil and that would give me the 3" of downtravel instead of the 2.5 bilstein 5100 offers

Welcome to TW! Might just be easier to replace with a bilstein 5100 with the old man emu 887 coil for 3".

x2. Your can use a coil compression tool from Napa or AutoZone or just have Toyota do it.

Welcome to the forums! If you're planning on only replacing the shocks then you're going to have to compress the coil to get it off. Or you could do it the really sketchy way and hope it doesn't jump up and hit you in the face.

Also if your strut is too long for your coil, you're going to have a really bouncy ride. Kinda like an old Cadillac.

I've always heard of people doing it that way but what i never understood is how they got the new springs on without compression either.

Put the coil on to the shock attack the lower part of the shock. Take a floor jack raise the axle back up making sure the top stays aligned than attack upper mounts. It is dangerous but can be done.
