Most people who say they know how to drive in the snow drive way to fast thinking i have awd/4wd I'm fine. After living in Erie pa where it snowed everyday I learned very quickly that steady well planned inputs are the best. Don't act scared and dont think your invicable.

I was a bit guilty of that after living in MI and PA for several years. Moved to SC and there was a good ice and snow storm the year after. Got too cocky and had a pretty good slip and slide session in my Ranger on a back road that taught me a lesson.

I'm probably overly cautious when it comes to snow/ice. I'd rather be safe than sorry though.. black ice is bad on some of the backroads in the area. If I have to drive in it, I get some cement blocks to put in my bed over my rear axle.

Anyone use any tire chains? Looking for a good company to get a pair before I leave for Indiana in a few weeks.
Contemplated driving the challenger but honestly don't want to subject it to the salt on the roads.

Edit: I'm thinking cables are more popular nowadays?

I don't know anyone on this side of the Mississippi that runs chains. Really only necessary in the mountains. Not the Smokies, the Rockies. I could be wrong, but I lived in Wisconsin for 18 years and never once saw someone running chains.

I got trapped in Indiana at my folks place for 2 weeks because they got 18" dumped on them overnite. I was supposed to leave for SC the next day but had to use vacation days because it simply wasn't safe to be on the roads.

Also....my prerunner is fully locked in the rear and can and has gotten sketchy.

I'm wondering about the tire sock.
Or a good pair of non studded snow tires.
