Well.... It's been a fun morning.

Decided I needed to try to go to work, since I've been out for 2 days fighting a cold. We got a couple inches of snow down here overnight, and I slid into a shallow ditch in the WRX a few miles from the house. Someone was nice enough to stop and pull me out, and I made it home going 10 MPH (slipping and sliding all the way). I guess it's time to breakdown and buy winter tires for the WRX.

That sucks, sorry to hear. I had to force my blizzaks to break free this morning. They seemed to hold like glue unless I really got on the throttle and pulled one way or the other (in safe places, obviously :) ). I switched over to the display that showed the traction on the tires, and it was pretty cool watching the tires switch from green to yellow and in extreme slipping, even saw a couple of times an orange-ish show up. Of course most of my attention was out the windshield, but when I had a chance to look it was cool seeing them changing colors depending on which way I was drifting.

In that thread that @fatfurious2 tagged us in, was a nice looking set of OEM 17" take offs. You could pick those up and throw some winter tires on them. I think the guy was in MD. If the tires were in good condition you could always save them to use after your current set wears out too.

Edit: if those are too far away, just keep an eye out on CL. The set I picked up I found on there. The tires were down to the steel belts on a couple of them and a couple had some decent curb rash, but I didn't care since they were going to be dedicated winter set and new tires.

I'm thinking I'll just throw the winter tires on my stock 18" wheels. I want to get some new wheels anyway, so I can get new wheels come summer or just throw the summer tires back on the stock wheels. I've got 18k on my stock tires, and I think that thread said the tires on the 17" wheels had 15k.

Yeah. I saw the thread when Dave tagged us, but it's not really anything I need right now. Also, it said sale pending yesterday when I first saw it after Dave tagged us. I can have the tires swapped at the hobby shop at work if I need to, so it's not an issue.

I would rather be cold than hot. In the cold, I can add thermals, a wool cap, gloves, and a jacket and be good to go. Only allowed to take off so much when it's hot without getting arrested.

I just hate the humidity we get here. I would take 110F in las vegas with 10% humidity over our 85F with 99% humidity.

I love the cold and prefer it over the summer all day every day. That bitter cold gust of wind that takes my breath away when I step out of the door in the morning makes me feel alive!
