It's been an eventful week - I finally got the entire drivetrain in today. I got to installing the rear driveshaft and found out it was the wrong one when trying to mount the flange to the transfer case.

Waiting on a replacement, here's a teaser photo. I'm running the black 4Runner shifter.

So until I get a new rear driveshaft is it an absolutely crazy idea if I drive the truck around without a rear driveshaft in 4HI essentially making the truck FWD?

It's on Manual Hubs, no ADD system at all so I don't know if that makes any difference.

As long as I can commute and it doesn't absolutely wreck my transfer case it's fine by me - I don't plan on going on the freeways or going above 50, it's just temporary until I figure out my rear driveshaft situation.

I'm not 100% sure if it'll be OK. But I don't see anything wrong with it but wait for someone with more experience or intelligence to respond. Personally I wouldn't do it

Yep should be fine to do that.

As your rear diff is disconnected from the tcase you won't cause any binding. The front diff will do its thing as an open diff just like the rear would. Plenty of people do this when they nuke the rear drive shaft or rear diff.

More of a repair post... My '02 2.7L 4x4 has 142,000 miles and runs like a gazelle. Very proud taco owner.

I felt my automatic transmission slipping yesterday so I took the truck in to my trusty repair shop for diagnosis. Turns out it was just in need of a new injector coil and spark plugs and needed some fuel line cleaner. My dude could have taken me for a proverbial ride and charged me $1k more but I know the best mechanic on the planet. Just want to drop that here in case anyone does a search for transmission help.

    Good things.

I installed the lights behind the grille and took the roof rack off.

Can someone point me in the direction of wiring two switches to two lights?

Wanting to put two lights facing backwards on the back of my roof rack tracks. Want a switch in the camper shell as well as one in the cab so I can turn on or off from either compartment. Is it something like this? Seems like a lot of wires though (but I'm an electrical n00b)

I like how Wheeler's includes 3 cents worth of candy in their shipments. That's what really earns my repeat business.

Gave my soft topper some love. I tried cleaning it with 303 but had no luck getting rid of the mud stains. So i hit it with vinyl paint. Looks brand new.

I was gonna buy one that is local and sell mine for dirt cheap. This did the trick tho

another option is just ground switching the lights. The down side to this is that whatever switch turns the light on, must also be off to turn the light off.

That is actually the way I want to go. If I turn the switch on in the cab I would want to just turn it off in the cab as well.

So that means, the switches do not need to be connected? Have two sets of wires coming from the lights - one set to one switch and one set to the other?

no with ground switching if you turn it on in the cab, you have to turn it off from the cab.

basically the idea is you run power to the light at all times. Then you just need ground to it. You can add as many switches to the ground wire as you want. But once it sees ground it lights up and the only way to kill ground is from the same place you gave it.

If you want a true double switch setup. You'll need a STDP switches
