Awesome! I think a standard WF Floating line is used for Pike (I'm no expert). Check eBay for Rio Gold in the same weight as the rod. That's a good line. Or if there's a fly shop near you, buy your line & backing (I like 30 lb plain old Dacron as it binds less) there and they'll spool it up for you. Good to have a relationship with a good fly shop.

found a shop relatively close by, I'll have to check it out next time we go to the "big town"...probably a trout fishing shop so I might start a :crapstorm:asking about pike there;)

Just be honest and tell them your plans/intentions and I'm sure they'll be glad to help get you set up. You'll need special leaders for pike for their razor sharp teeth. Any decent fly shop should have those.

yep I make my own leaders/rigs. Ive made quite a few "rigs" for friends and myself in the regular type fishing. I just made some leaders for a fly fisherman (brother-in law to a friend of mine) to try out this year on pike, Ive got him talked into trying pike fishing on the fly so thats what Im gearing up to do also, Im confident they should hold up.
