Custom LED Map and Dome lights

When will you have the Clear? Or do I need to order the Smoke?

In your opinion would you be able to see more with the red or clear? The toggle was just a thought of getting more out of the product. Instead of being locked to one color have an option for white.

 

When you use clear, or likely even the smoked your eyes will adjust for that amount of bright light, then when you turn them off there is a re-adjustment period where your vision will be limited somewhat. Red light does not affect your eyes the same way.

Is it going to burn your retinas? No. Will you crash? No. Will it really be a huge problem? No. But it's a proven fact red is the better choice for bright light at night. Plus it just looks cool as hell.

Someone might argue that if it was that big a deal then auto manufacturers would use red. Well, they limit the amount of light and diffuse it. @mesojdm is going to rectify that by taking the light output to the next level. If the interior OEM lights were bright enough, likey this thread wouldn't exist. From the pics I saw on the first page I can see how much brighter these replacement lights are over OEM. They are a game changer. The red will be a clear bright red and look to be brighter than the clear diffused OEM lights. Just better for your eyes at night, when you will need them.

Plus I am old, and wear glasses, and have always had a sensitivity to bright light. I am definitely getting red.

 

Maybe "toggled" wasn't the right wording but yes basically have a selector switch to chose red or white light.

 

@mesojdm will the dome light have its own sale thread or will it be in this one?

@mesojdm id say whatever is easier for but I think that having these in the same thread might work better if people want to buy them together.

 

I say here and just edit the thread title and the first post to include links for both. Then on your end you can set them up separately. If that's what you wanted to do of course.

Seems most of the guys wanting map lights also want the dome. Either way a ton of people have already sub'd to this thread where we have been talking about the dome so.

@RobP62 answered your question very well. Going to the red map lights is not about light output, it's all about preserving your night vision. Red light tends to be less "bright" than white light when lighting up an area. My goal is to reduce the adjustment time for my eyes when driving at night. I'll still have a white dome light if I need more/brighter light.

 

Yea, sometimes the logical side of me prevails but mostly I am into the red because @mesojdm said we can.

Stupid question but do the Off Roads have 2 DOME lights? Or is it a non-moon roof thing? I have a Sport Double Cab with a moon roof and I only have one DOME light. It's in the back, and there is none up front.

What gives?

 

All of the models have the two map lights in the front and one dome light in the rear.

yea but @Falcon016 said "one red dome and one white dome" or did he mean map? To me, the larger fixture is the dome light and and the smaller ones are map lights. I am old and when I was growing up there was only one light in the center of the roof. Not like these new fangled cars nowadays.
