I think my noise is back. Although quiet.

Been driving on snow/ice packed roads since I got my truck back. Have just over 300 miles on the near rear end. Trick is I've been driving in 4H almost the entire time (roads have been cruddy). Now that I've put her back into 2H I'm hearing it faintly. I know it's not the tires because I hear it on packed snow, loose slush, and 'dry' pavement. But I think it goes away the instant I hit the 4H switch. Then comes back 3-4 seconds after hitting 2H again.

Wonder if it's a CV or something? I have an ARB locker up front so no Needle Bearing. Can't be that.

Did you have the ECGS bushing put in? The symptoms you describe are usually related to a bearing in the front diff

No need for the ECGS Bushing. the ARB Locker replaces the entire front diff internal case. It does away with the Needle Bearing entirely (this is what ECGS told me when I ordered my gears/locker).

But before this I had Toyota replace the Needle Bearing under the TSB/Warranty. That was very different though. There was a noticable vibration in the floor board detween 25-40mph.

This is entirely audible. No vibration what so ever. At all speeds. A year ago a local driveline shop tracked the noise to my rear diff (using a stethoscope). Turned out my rear diff was eating itself. I'm on my 4th rear diff. Rear wheel bearings have been checked.

Ah. Didn't realise it replaces the whole thing. Front driveshaft then? Maybe a ujoint is starting to fail and make noise

I've had the entire drive line removed, balanced, u-joints checked. The only thing we haven't gotten into is the front end. Although I just had the fluids changed in the front diff like 3k ago and the fluid was fine. The noise has been present for well over a year. We've been chasing rear diff issues (metal constantly present) trying to fix the noise. The last two rear diffs made the noise go away temporarily. So I'm at a freaking loss.

It's not nearly as loud now as it was before this new rear diff. But the fact it's present at all is driving me nuts.

Have you had the axle housing checked for straightness? 4 diffs leads me to believe something isn't in tolerance

Driveline was pulled off and balanced by a driveline shop. I'd assume they'd look at that kind of thing. This goes back a long ways. My first regear had a failure in the pinion bearing. Been trying to get things right since.

ECGS rear diff break in complete. Just over 500 miles.

Just put fresh Lucas 85W-140 in as recommended by ECGS.

    Took a little over 3QTs.

I will say that 36ftlbs of torque on the drain and fill plugs seems awfully weak. Hope they don't leak! Then again my torque wrench is pretty long so...

And I also didn't think ahead and get new crush washers. Didn't realize there were any. *fingers crossed*
