That site is pretty handy for tracking your maintenance. If it's dealer done it gets updated automatically, but they also have the option to input it yourself. It also shows any recalls etc.

Ah, ohhh, hmmm, so the OP can show the regional service manager ( the corporate person he should chat with first about the dealer) what the dealer refused to do with it.....

assuming they added that as a comment, yes. Generally anything they put down in the invoice gets recorded there as far as I can tell.

Then again, if it's in the invoice he could just show them that

They think that refers to the wind shield washer fluid level. Also do you have grease zerks on your drive shaft? Dealers wont touch that (also) unless you pay . :frusty:

In legal terms, and in terms of the English language, they don't have a leg to stand on unless that exception is documented.

I just got off the phone with Toyota Corporate and they confirmed that they do not check the transmission fluid until the 30k service for the SR and 4 cylinder models.

Well, I guess that settles that. So what happens if at the 30k mark they discover it was low and you have been driving this whole time on low fluid?

In that case, be sure that it is noted that they refused service on your work order. That way, if anything crops up down the road, you can at least show that you tried to have it addressed early.

I agree that the dealer maybe "Should" check all fluids based on the maintenance sheet that was posted. With that being said, it is not an "easy" process. This requires the dealer to keep your truck until it has completely cooled down. They then have to bring it up to a specified temp and check the fluid at the correct time and temperature while putting the ECM into the Transmission test mode. I had mine done and it was low but they had my truck overnight to check the fluid. I was fine with it, but it is more than just pulling it in and them checking the dipstick as one does not exist.
