small swivel sounds like a good idea. Easy to tie on leader & tippet material. I'm using them for my Alaska trip in August.

I put a snap ring on the hooks, to easily replace them if needed. So far the wire is the only thing that gets messed up. Other than losing it by hanging up on the train tressle or snapping the line itself they have yet to break on me.

I fish an old glass south bend pack rod, it's a lot of fun. Takes awhile to adjust my casting tho. Gotta slow down a lot. Fighting fish on it is fun

If by overproduced u mean (mostly) canned fishing for penned up trout by a braying jackass that uses my home state’s limited tourism advertising dollars to travel around the world then I agree wholeheartedly lol

Yeah, something like that. I just don’t like how these shows morph from what they start out as. I watch them to see the areas and actually fishing, technique, etc. Next thing, they are 90% commercials, build up centered on some “story”, then 3 minutes of fishing.

In other parts of the lake Im sure its a problem. but ALL and I mean ALL of the pike Ive filleted open 99% had yellow perch in them I did find one with a baby pike in it and one had a baby crappie but zero trout. I think theres plenty of food for them otherwise numbers would be down. also kinda funny thing is 2 years ago now I got a couple friends in to pike fishing and since that time Ive caught even more bigger fish in the same area. Ive prob pulled 3 dozen pike out of this same area in the last 3 years...not huge numbers but for the handful of days Ive gone its a good amount.
