More likely, less sound. There are too many speakers reproducing the same frequency, and the sound waves from each source is hitting your ear out of phase. This causes cancelation which is a decrease in volume.

Google “wave phase cancellation“ and read up on this phenomenon.

 

Thanks! I actually ordered the 44KSC6904s for the front (Coaxial rather than 3 way). I didn't get the sale everyone else did in the beginning of the thread (I'm still weeding my way through it), but I am still under $250 for everything all told (tweets, fronts and rears came to $242). If this works out as advertised, I'll forgo the amp/sub. I have some left over Noico, so I'll do around the actual mounting area of the speakers and a strip behind the magnet on the outer skin.

Also, don't forget to add a foam ring around the front of each speaker

Finally finished up my low budget sound this weekend. Never installed an amp before so that was a learning curve after getting the driver's seat and most of the console/dash parts out of the way coupled with fucking freezing ass temperatures in Nashville right now. Might eventually add in a powered sub under the passenger seat, but not really worried about it right now.

Things I bought:

• Sound Ordnance M100-2
• Infinity Primus PR6500cs
• Amp wiring kit

Things I already had:

• Pioneer AppRadio 4 (previous owner installed)
• All controls for steering wheel and harnesses, etc. (previous owner installed)
• ********* door adapters

 

Just any old foam will work?

 

Did you guys who did the tweeter upgrade replace the Toyota foam backing on the a pillar/tweeter cover to prevent dash rattle down the road?

 

Yes. I just bought a foam roll that has one side that's adhesive which is usually used on doors or windows. I bought it at Home Depot and one roll was enough to put a ring around each speaker.

I don't remember exactly, but I believe it was 1/2" to 3/4" thick foam.

 

And so it shall continue. Damn you guys!

I couldn't imagine your weather. Spent the last week in Orlando.

Woke up Wednesday morning and enjoyed coffee at sunrise.......







Just a few hours later I had to veer off I-95 well south of Savannah, Georgia due to the insanely slow bumper-to-bumper 15 mile per hour traffic.






Crazy winter storm. Couldn't even wash the car after getting home due to frozen waterlines.

I can't wear shorts outside now....and may even need to grab a coat, lol.

I wouldn't know where to start with current temps & conditions in your area.

 

Insanity, the lakes and ponds are frozen deep enough for folks to be ICE SKATING and playing ICE HOCKEY in TENNESSEE. Something I have never seen. Occasionally there will be some surface freeze over the water, but nothing you'd feel confident putting your weight on. 2 weeks of single digit/teens will do it I suppose. We've avoided any precipitation though so at least its a dry cold for now... Is it March yet!??

I think that the argument of "cover the whole panel" and "just the outer skin and around the speaker mount location" has been beaten to death in every forum I have belonged to. I'll be honest, I did the whole door panel in my Tundra, and I think it sounded great, but I don't believe that the whole panel needs to be done. First of all, when you have an issue with the doors, the first thing thats going to happen when the mechanic needs to fix the inside (for say the window track), they're going to rip all of that shit off.

I understand that it creates an excellent baffle, but the new trucks come with the foam baffle over the holes under the vapor cover, right? The most vibrations are going to be from the outer skin and around the mounting area. Of course, this is my opinion, and your mileage may vary. I haven't matted a thing yet because I think this truck is WORLDS quieter than my Tundra was, and that WAS matted. All I want to do is mitigate vibrations more than anything.
