Just received my new insurance premium after adding my new 2017 DCSB OR 4X4. Presently surprised. It went up 36 bucks for the year. I thought it would go up a lot more considering I was driving a compact worth much less. Was banking on a $150+ increase with it being a 4x4. Total per year is $756. Not bad.

    Pretty happy.

Yeah, TSS seems to brings rates way down. My RC350 has the Lexus version as well and is much less that I thought it would be.

Edit - Oh wait. on a '17? Nice. Now I'm questioning if my rate drop has anything to do with the new safety stuff. Lexus is still much less expensive than I ever thought it would be.

When I went from my 15 to a 17 my insurance increased $9 every 6 Months, I was pretty shocked by that.

I guess it's actuarial data over time (or at least that's what they tell us). Makes sense to me that vehicles with safety advances have lower rates as that encourages people to get safer vehicles.

That’s for the full year!!! Wow. I pay that for just 6 months. I hate Michigan insurance. And no. I don’t have any tickets or accidents. And I’m 40 years old

When i traded my 2016 2wd taco in for a 2017 4wd truck my insurance went up like $12-14 more a MONTH... Can't remember the exact amount but i know it was more than 10 and less than 20... I was told it was because it's 4x4 and cost more...

    $756 a YEAR?? I wish!!

I have no at fault accidents and no tickets on my driving record... My wife has 2 speeding tickets and 1 at fault accident. Drives a 2013 impala. We pay $222 a MONTH for progressive insurance. $109 a month is for my Tacoma. USAA wanted $235 a month for the same coverage.

Full year. $500 deductible. And I have the highest liability coverage I get can
It's very good insurance. Now, I only drive about 5000 miles per year so I get a bit of a break.

Lol. You guys are paying PENNIES compared to me. $2800 a year, that's at full discount, no accidents no tickets. $3 mil liability, $500 deductible, collision, comprehensive coverage (theft, fire, glass, vandalism, etc).

Everyone here realizes that just stating how much you pay for insurance is like saying how much you paid for just a Tacoma. Without knowing the specs it could be fly by night policies that are cheap or low coverage.

Just beat that in mind when you see someone with insurance a few hundred less a year. In Florida we have this stupid thing we should add called "uninsured motorist" it's one of the most upsetting things since I have to pay for my insurance but if someone without insurance hits you and you don't have that coverage then you could be SOL.

    Insurance is a scam!

Mine is more than that every 6 months... One fault accident because FL no matter what the idiot did in front of you it is always your fault if you hit them from behind. Even if witnesses say the kid had no business being on the road plus past his legal driving curfew because brand new driver... That's a rant for another time, at least I completely destroyed his dad's brand new accord and drove my Jeep home with a cracked side marker and bent steering arm.

I pay like 1k every 6 months with a larger deductible and not even the best or close to the best coverage. I'm also 23, not sure how much that and the accident from 2012 change the price.

Yeah that’s florida for you. Makes sense where I live with all the tourists and snowbirds and just terrible drivers everywhere. Out where you do maybe not as much, but, but I’m sure the insurance companies see FL and group all he risk together. I pay right about the same as you for my truck and my wife’s RAV4, no at fault accidents, but we have both been rear ended within the last 5ish years (didn’t affect rates).
Im originally from the Virgin Islands, where everything is usually more expensive except booze and apparently car insurance. I paid about $750 a year for my insurance as a teenager! although I’m sure it has gone up a bunch now.

Anyway, usually the most expensive part of your insurance is tied to the safety aspects, medical payments and the risk they will have to pay them are much higher than payments with an almost fixed ceiling like vehicle damage. You may think body shops charge a lot, but hospitals are always worse.
Getting a more expensive vehicle should make your rates go up, but if it is safer, they won’t go up by nearly as much. My wife’s insurance actually went down slightly when she got her 2014 brand new vs her old 1998 escort, the safety outweighed the vehicle cost.
