Anyone else noticing that when you run floor heat your clutch pedal gets all notchy and creaky?
Tried lubing...helped for a week or 2. Now its back to creaky notchy crappieness.
Its quiet when you first use it. But run that floor heat for 1/2 hour and it will make a serious racket.

Use disc brake grease on the pivot points and that should take care of it, usually it will make that noise in hot weather.

I had the dealership lube mine and it's been creak free for probably over 6 months now. It was so bad I thought it was actually a structural problem with the clutch. It was noisy and notchy. Whatever grease they used (for some reason, they had to special order it - I had to bring it back in for them to do it) did the trick.

That is a very common issue been happening since they started using that pedal ssembly in the 2nd Gens. Both of my 2nd Gens did it and after experimenting with many different types of grease I found Disc Brake Grease cures the problem.

Dealer replaced the clutch pedal and master cylinder on mine under warranty. Take advantage of the warranty if you got it. Doesnt mean it wont happen to me again though. Its an on going problem since 2005

That's whack. If I can look up my service ticket from the dealer I'll pm it to you so you can show those retards. Check with other service guys at that same dealer. I've had luck with that. I think there are a couple threads with other ways to modify and fix it permanently.

I've been lucky with my truck almost 100% but this is the one little thing. I've been round & round with the clutch pedal... the last dealer literally took the truck for a week, gave me a loaner the whole time, and had the service manager finalize my go-fuck-yourself from them. so, at this point it's a Toyota Corp case number... paperwork ready on my desk, just gotta deal with it.

clutch pedal works, it's just falling apart so I'm making my paper trail now.

Was the same in 2009! Seems Toyota and their infamous "Toyota Way" style of "improvement" (see the book called Toyota way!) can't learn to fix that stuff! Our old one did the same thing!

He dealt with this for a while it sounds like. Sounds like they hopefully fixed his. Best of luck!

P.S. He mentions in either this vid or a different one what normally triggered the noises.

Umm the heat that comes out by the floor...

I'll try some disc brake grease next. Anything to save going to dealer.

Anyone remove the assist spring, I think most of the issues stem from it.

I would suggest letting the dealer mess with it. Nobody likes the dealer, but it should b under warranty, and if for some reason something happens while u try and fix it, then they can blame u. Let them try and have it documented so if they “fix” the issue, but it returns they have to rectify it. I hate taking my truck to them, but some stuff falls on them as long as you warranty is still good. But again, it’s your decision. Either way, good luck and let us know if u get it fixed.

Problem is the dealer will just replace pedal with same part or lube it. Either way the noise will most likely return. Which means i drove two 70mile round trips to dealer and wasted 2 days of my life for nothing. I have better things to do!

Very curious if anyone has removed the assist spring?

Brake grease works but the most important thing to lube is the spring. You have to go into Chinese contortionist mode to see up in there and get to it but my squeaking, notchy feeling pedal didn't go away with just lubing the pivot points. I then hit the spring and it's been smooth and quiet for more than a year.

Try it before you take it to the dealer. It only takes a few minutes.

you don't need to remove the pedal assembly to get to it with the grease? i have only done the pivot points with no good results.
