Don’t tempt me with a good time! Never been up there, turned a job down once, regret it every day.

I looked at the roast - one end has great marble, the other not so much - I'm gonna leave it intact including fat cap and roast it up whole.

I told the woman, "There's a chest freezer coming in the future." She asked why and I said, "Because I need to hold frozen birds for dog training - and then all the birds we get hunting." and thought to myself, 'The meat that goes on sale will be cooked all summer long - BWAHAHAHAHAHA!'

But I forgot to hold in the evil laugh - oh well - Chest Freezer!

It was a seasonal job, and it would have cost me more to move there and back, than I would have made all summer. Regardless, it would have been a cool summer.

When I cut mine in to steaks, I cut thinner slices off of the ends to get it squared up. I cubed those slices up for future use as chili meat. Biting in to those tender little chunks is great in chili.

I've been all over the state at all times of the year. Where I am now is pretty nice, mostly because the mosquitoes are largely nonexistent. The farther you get from large bodies of water, though, the worse it gets. They thrive in the still, shallow water of the interior.

Cruise ships are death traps. Don't go on a cruise to Alaska or anywhere else.

Well, maybe YOU do. Some of us have fishing to do. And grilling. And smoking. And maybe next summer brewing. Hmm...

Yep and in Mn. the land of 10,000 lakes the mosquito is the State bird. Right up there with no seeums and biting flies. At -13 this morning not many out though, -32 up at the Falls. Does help keep the riff raff away though. Fly Fishing season opened back up Jan. 1 here for trout but it is catch and release in this stretch. Not into chipping ice out of the eye guides to cast anymore though LOL. Hard to smoke those released trout too:rant:

I don't like Alaska... A few years ago my wife flew up there with her mother (tandem broom!) and they both came back! :( The bears let me down!
    JK love 'em both.

Here in Homer you want the reds, not the silvers! Much more plentiful and a lot easier to catch. You just go into the bay and snag them with a weighted treble hook. No trolling gear required!

I can’t even imagine what the spit was like 20 years ago. It seems like they add more tourist traps every year!

Well now it’s your turn then, isn’t it? Just be weary if either of them asks you for a close up photo of you with a moose. They’re much more deadly.
