Hey guys, relatively new to the forum and already introduced myself in the New Member forum, but I came over to the DFW thread because that's where I live and wanted to say hi over here.

So far I haven't left the pavement. I don't need to go rock crawling or climb a (non-existent in DFW) mountain, I'm just looking to get off the road a little bit. Do you guys know of places around here I can go? I know there's the Bridgeport OHV and Barnwell, but do places like Cedar Hill State Park or other places around here have places to drive around a little off-road?

Hello and Welcome! There are a few places around here to go. State Parks i would imagine have disignated paths that you have to stay on to preserve the area. If you are wanting to play in the mud and get dirty i would say go find a wet field. But if you want to play on some trails and not get to dirty then i would say the easy trails at bridgeport or barnwell. When its dry.... The trails there are pretty easy, it may feel a little sketch to the new guy but they are marked as easy trails for a reason.

There are a couple other spots around the DFW area but they can be sketchy because if you are caught you could get a ticket &/or your vehicle towed away.

Those are the main two, and Bridgeport offers wide open areas if you want to leave pavement but not worry about scratches.

Are you down doing a full wrap, or just a few sections?

Next meetup date has been set! But we still need a location!

Its been a while since we have had a meet on a Saturday! Lets go somewhere new!! Let me know where you think a good place to go would be!

I am putting down Farmbryd! This place is has awesome food and there is a bar. It is in Plano so dont count on drinking by the truck but there is usually plenty of parking around.

There wrapping the roof this next week and ill probably do my hood portion of the wrap the same time. The rest will be mid rear door back, but it probably wont be installed until after I install the fenders.

If you don't mind me asking, what are they charging for the hood and roof? What brand of material are they using?

@ETXTacoma I bought mine at Cabela's last year and used it at Jambo. It looks just like the one you posted, but it comes with the extension. It cost me about 150.00.

Are you on Facebook? Check out the Texas Overland page. There are some map files that you can download that includes routes on mostly dirt roads. They're all public County Roads. I took a route from McKinney to the Red River one afternoon. Took a few hours to do the whole route, but was fun and interesting to see some of the back roads and the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, which i never knew was there. I attached the map file for that route. It was probably 80%or more dirt from McKinney to Thackerville when I went about a year ago.

That would be cool to all make a run on that route.

I think im going to go by the local U.S. Forest Service center and see what they have to say. There web site says "they publish a variety of maps to help you plan your next trip" so I will let you guys know.

I’d like to do some light wheeling. I have a TRD OF with Predator steps. I know those steps aren’t great for off-roading.

    They’re fine for off roading.
They’re great for wives if you’re lifted.
They’re awful for rock crawling, and will increase damage to your rocker panel.

    Working on that!

    Yea, true...

I thought about building a tire carrier for the rear bed of the truck to help hold it better. Before I had use my rhino rack tire straps to secure it and it was good, but offroad it would move around a lot.

Looks like a perfect Jambo accessory...

That looks like a great setup right there!

Nice, I have a local guy that says he has one but doesn't need it right now, so going to see if he will let me borrow it to test out on Saturday and see how it works for what I am wanting...
