No one makes the 4.10's for them. Only 4.56's, and up from there. The 4cyl 4x4 2005+ have the 4.10's stock I think, so maybe just order from the dealer or find a totaled one in a junk yard. Those are all the options I can think of.

yep one way or another Op needs to get front diff out of the 4.10 taco because supposedly you can not fit bigger gears in 3.73 differential.
One thing I am curious is If one could use R&P 4.10 out of the 1gen just R&P for the front. Since I am pretty sure rear will take 4.10 no problems. (lucky me I kept my set :goingcrazy:) they are reverse cut on the front just like 2gens. so its matter finding diff. Unless there is a way to grind the diff case to make them fit

do you think 4.56's would be too high for a 33" tire? i have a 50 mile commute every day and am trying to get a little power but dont want to massacre gas mileage. :goingcrazy:

Wait you have trd offroad ? oh snap you need to find gears out of trd then....

but 4.56 are goign to be a little over for highway riding. Although some people will say they are on the spot but I think 4.30 would be correct gear. The only problem they are no longer sold

^ not that i know of...

concerning the 4.10s, you can get a rear diff from a previous get, most of the V6's had 4.10s if im not mistaken, and im almost positive it will bolt right in. concerning using the front from a previous gen, dont have anything for you there!

For those mentioning previous gen front gears, they arent the same. The 1st gen is a 7.5" ring gear, the 2nd gen Taco's use a beefier 8" reverse cut gear set. When looking for front gears online, its easiest to look for FJ cruiser gears, they have the same diff's as the Tacos and seem to be easier to locate.

Nice! I was wishing for 4.10's for my truck, looks like I can run a set once I have the money.

Actually, its really not bad. I've got plenty of power, I just have to down shift to 5th on the highway a tad more often. And all I lost for mpg's was maybe 1mpg, looks to be a tad less. I think 4.10's would help out power loss a bit, but keep rpms down for fuel economy still. I think I calculated ~4.29 would be equivalent ratio to stock gears w/35's on. The way I figure it, the automatics have a lower final ratio in OD, so with the 4.10s and 35's Id have about the same final gear ratio on the highway as the auto(which is epa rated for better mpg than us 6 speeds)
