Thats not an alternator, it's wheel bearings and I bet the bags are ball joints.

    Yeah that's a wheel bearing that @NYCO borrowed. :D

Bags are 2 tie rod outers and one inner. The wrapped rag is a spare U joint.

    What hasn't been modified?
Have you ever find that you need the spare parts? Or better to have and not need than need and not have?

Better to have and not need then to be stranded. Also while I may have needed the parts others have. Helps us all get out safe. I carry a good amount of fluids too which have been helpful in more then one instance.

I actually have 2 spare CVS but only want to carry one due to weight. When I plan a really long trip I will bring both with me.

After two days traversing from copper globe mine to cathedral valley, I had a hub bolt back out... luckily I had a spare hub assembly to swap in so I could make the 6hr drive home..

Another occasion I had a wheel bearing implode on me coming back from the mountains... had a spare assembly on me but I had a brake caliper bolt broke in the spindle on me... otherwise I would have gotten home.. had to get put on a buddy's trailer to get home.

Tie rods are another thing that people use on the trail a lot along with cvs... good thing about wheeling with similar trucks is the ability to share parts if your buddy breaks something

Don't forget you need to make sure you have the tools needed for the repair.

What tie rods (inner and outer both) are you guys running/using for spares? Oem or are you trusting the aftermarket?

    Thanks in advance!

Packed in my case are Rock Auto aftermarket outers and inner. I currently have OEM on the truck. I think I have changed one inner in its lifetime. Still OEM.

Out of curiosity, how long did the Alcan springs take to build? Planning some things and I need to time them properly.
