It is a tight fit but weight adds stress. Also thermal properties of aluminum and steel are different. There's more to it than just bad fit, cold weather.

Do you guys think it could be possible to somehow epoxy the crack and back of the Grille where the crack is? Obviously would have to get rid of the BAMF Grille and put something plastic/flexible in its place. But, do you think it could hold together?

It would be worth a try, I would use JB Weld on the back side of the surround but no glue in the crack. I would also use a strap clamp or bungee cords to hold it together until the glue was dry. $5 attempt would be no loss if it didn’t work.

In my opinion? Waste of time. Vibration will open it back up. Now, if you ground the area down, used some fine wire to "lace" the two sides back together, used matted fiberglass on top of that, then yes, it could be permanently fixed.

Jerry has a disclaimer regarding cold temps and instructions on his website on how to reinforce the back of the plastic surround.

I couldn't find the disclaimer. I would be interested in how he suggests the surround be reinforced. I am going to try to fix this one before shelling out $400 for a new one. But, I am not sure what material the surround is made of and what would adhere to it. I purchase one of the pro grilles for $150 off Amazon so I can replace the BAMF one.

That's the kind of thing that happens when you mount a big, heavy metal grill in place of the OEM lightweight, plastic grille. That BAMF grille is an overpriced piece of scrap metal. :)

Jeeeez. The worst thing about this thread necromancy, other than the list of unfortunate guys with cracked grills, is I though Smitty was back for a moment.

I wonder if this fiberglass bondo thing is actually something that would prevent cracking or just an "I dunno this might work lol?" type of suggestion. This wouldn't reduce the stress to the surround, and at least one person has had it crack in a completely different plsce, so it's realistic to think it might just crack somewhere else.

Also this disclaimer wasn't always there, but for those who buy the BAMF product now I hope they take it into account. I wouldn't even chance it in an area that gets colder climates. Or maybe for people who want to swap their grilles around twice a year. Bummer because it really is a good looking piece. I'd like to see Jerry adjust his design tbh. We're already up shit creek but this is obviously an issue to be addressed for future buyers. Just my feeling on it.
