The one thing I do not like is Entune, it is definitely not on par with what other companies offer. Get the JBL speakers though, they are really nice!

I can't speak to all your issues, but I think you're painting a pretty broad brush when you're comparing 2016's to 2018's. The quality for the first couple model years for most manufacturers is spotty at best. I only have ~350 on mine, but it's been great so far. Can't compare it to my '09, but that was a beast.

Lysol is Kool-Aid compared to Frigi Fresh.

I wasn't comparing 2016's to 18's but there hasn't been any indication that they've fixed any of the issues I noted. Maybe the hood fluttering?

I hope you dont run into any issues. I hope they fixed them. Looking at this forum though--it seems people continue to post the same problems that us early adopters posted about 2+ years ago. The front page talks about the thud when coming to a stop, the rear diff howl thread is still going strong, OV tune has a few threads because the engine and transmission are wonky, and guys keep running into CPS failures.

lol, you must have it bad. I'm in WA. Very humid, but generally not very hot. I've been using lysol every once in a while for years. Does the job if you don't let it get bad. I already used in my 1 week old truck, lol. Hate that smell so I give it a dose about once a month. I use the allegedly "unscented" version. The smell of that lasts a day or two.

Yeah mine is bad. Been putting it off but I'm on my last year of warranty so I think I'm going to take it in this spring and let them tear the dash out to get at the evap core and clean it. I'm afraid it will just come back and I'll be stuck with a scratched up interior. Thinking about just trading it off. If I don't do it soon I'll have to wait till next winter so they won't be able to smell it when I trade it in.

Right on. But first @tacoflavoredkisses1 has to steer me to this $18k marvel of engineering he referred to. Waiting

If you can find a leftover you like, get 2 grand off sticker price, youhave to get the discount cause the truck will be a year old when you buy it.

I am not a Gen3 owner. That was my choice. I had the luxury of driving one for a day back in ‘16. I loved the inside and outside of the truck. However I couldn’t get past the lack of low end torque. I was so disappointed because I had been waiting for months before they were released. I wanted one so bad but holy shit! I can’t imagine trying to pull the maximum trailer load with that 3.5 minivan motor revving 5000 rpm. If you want a daily driver or something to haul your jet ski the lake, it’ll be just fine. Tacoma continues to make great trucks... just not for me. Having said that, I really hope Toyota offers better engine options by the time my 13 wears out.

To be clear, if I hit ect I don't seem to have shiftyness. Without, I do, but I'm trying to teach the ECU. My hood has not fluttered. I do not have a thud when I come to a stop. While I hear a bit of noise from the back end, it is a truck. It's no louder than any other truck I've owned. A bit less in fact. I was pleased. I do not have the "howl" that has been described.

I'll probably check the diff fluid level and top it off tomorrow anyway. No big deal unless I have to add a pint or two. I had it in 4hi for about 50 miles over the pass already, so I wanted to check the front diff anyway. I have not seen a thread about a 2018 with a CPS failure, but it could happen. These things happen with any truck. I'm sorry you got a bad one. First couple years of a new generation always seems to be brutal. The guys with 2005/06 complained a lot, but my '09 was awesome.

Edit - It does lack low end torque. I'm putting in a front locker because of that. Won't make up for all of it, but it should help when torque would just do the job.

I hear you brother. I kept thinkin I would have to drive my 2004 forever until they finally came out with the third Gen. Was almost desperate enough to buy the Colorado.

What didn’t you like about the Gen2? Gen3 is the same but with face lift, more tech and smaller engine. Just curious.

This is a helpful post. My complaint was that your first post was as about as helpful as Domino's Carry out Insurance... nobody needs it.

Agreed, plus I keep seeing commercials where they are offering a $500 Rebate and 0 or 0.9% Financing.

I just couldn't get past spending new vehicle $ on 11 year old styling and technology.
