With the kids off at college (CJ) and starting their adult lives (Christine) we've been going back and forth what to do about cars for months.

It's complicated and totally 1st world; I'm the first to admit this is insane.

Last night we came home with a new 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 Off Road (short bed). I paid about $1000 over actual dealer cost.
    [IMG][IMG]

Until my wife figures out what car she really wants and orders that she'll be driving this beast. I'll be towing and hauling shit in it. And likely we'll own it forever and drive it into the ground. I've always wanted a pickup! Didn't really expect to buy a brand new, fully loaded one...

First annoyance: The hill assist when in drive uses ABS. Works like shit and makes an awful ABS racket. Even worse, when in reverse it does nothing. If you let the rig roll forward on a hill when facing downhill, and in reverse the engine stalls and the dash displays a horrific "AT overheat" or somesuch message.

We're used to the Audi Q5/Q7 AT transmissions which hold hard and fast on hills with no fuss.

Julie's a bit peeved about this: "It's no better than a manual. If I had known it worked this way I would have let you get the 6-speed." Sommabitch!

Talked to Stealer service and they are confused. One guy says they all act like this. Another says it ain't right. Regardless, it goes in Saturday to get fixed (and debadged and destickered).

    Welcome!

It's a common issue on OR's, lots of complaints on here. But ya, it's normal due to break actuators.

Depends what you want to use it for. The crawl control can be handy I guess. YouTube it if you really want to hear the racket it makes downhill, sounds like it's falling apart.

Installed a Truxedo TruXtop on my 2017 Off Road double cab. Very happy with it.

The kit was well organized and everything was there. The instructions were easy to follow.

I painted the brackets first (in another thread someone else did this and I thought that was brilliant).

Happy that the factory rails still work with this cover:

    Well this pisses me off.

The leather on the steering wheel is coming up. Note the right-hand-thumb spot?

    Is this a common thing?

Installed these 'running boards'. $176 on eBay. Not bad. Instructions were horrible, but they only took about 30 minutes to install regardless. Very stout and appear well made. Not that I have a lot to compare from.
