I hand calculated mileage driving from Richland (tri-cities, WA) to Vancouver and calculated the route back as well. Head wind @ 71mph cruise at 225 miles took 15 gallons. Trip back, tail wind @ 70mph took a smidge over 9 gallons. Wish I could get that mileage all the time. Truck is currently 100% stock. I'll be doing the same trip in a couple weeks with 285/75/16s.. I expect to refuel halfway. LOL

First post of my truck. Bought it back in September and have really enjoyed this forum! Made a lot of little changes here and there so far. Love this truck!

I'm still amazed Toyota hasn't been able to engineer a more fuel efficient engine in a midsize truck. I had a 12 year old 8000lb diesel truck on 10ply 35" mud tires that got better fuel economy towing my 20' fishing boat than my brand new Tacoma trying to hypermile. Just crazy.

Not complaining by any means, if I was worried about the cost of gas and ownership, i'd have bought a new $9k Kia Rio.

I'm am sure they are able to put a diesel in it, even a hybrid if they wanted. Toyota does things their own way and they don't deem it necessary to put anything else in it at this time.

When you think about it though, nothing gasoline powered of this size gets any better mileage. You can even look at mid size SUVs that are about this weight and they all get about the same MPG

Even if a diesel was available in these trucks I wouldn't buy it. And Toyota does put a diesel in the Hilux, which is what most of the rest of the world gets instead of the Tacoma.

I'm not going to argue fuel mileage because I really don't care. But in comparison, my bigger/heavier '15 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L gets about 6mpg better over the last 45k miles than the first 1200 in my Tacoma. 1000 of which is highway driving.

Just got her can’t wait to start fixing her up. I do a lot of backpacking so I’m hoping to explore some overlanding and build the truck out to support some longer camping trips.

Folks always say this, but believe me people will care when gas is $1.50/litre and they are driving an F-150 dropping $200 every time they fill up. Not sure it's a lot different in the USA, even though your gas is cheaper.

We’ve already been there. Back in 2005-2007 gas was 4.00 a gallon. The F-150 was not only the best selling truck, it was the best selling vehicle in the US. As a whole, people really don’t care.

Gas prices don’t affect truck and SUV sales here at all. F-150 has been the #1 selling vehicle in the US for like 37 years in a row.

Just got my 2018 DCLB a week or so ago. Not planning on modding much until I need it, but I do plan to ditch the steps and put on proper sliders.

Looks like only the LB cements have been released? I was initially looking at a SB, but I'm digging the additional storage space (and I can sleep in the back with the tailgate closed).
