I personally like the chrome bumpers! I think it looks more truck like, If that make's any sense...:)

Mine came painted as well as gill surround. That was a "must" when I was hunting for my truck. To me it just separates it from all the other trucks made by the other manufacturers as 99% have chrome bumpers which to me looks old-fashioned.

From 2001 - 2004 all Tacomas with the SR5 Color Keyed Package (Lunar Mist / Black Sand Pearl / Radiant Red / Impulse Red only) got color-matched rear bumpers. So did all S-Runners (Black Sand Pearl / Radiant Red).

colored matched bumper on the 1st gen simply looks wrong to me.. I think it's because unlike the 2nd gen, where the bumper molds and conforms to the lines of the body better, the 1st gen bumper looks like a simple and basic bumper that's just stuck on there, chrome or black looks more appropriate.

The same goes for color matched ARB bullbar bumpers..

i think it depends on the color. a chrome bumper on my red truck would look like crap.

I agree, they should only be black or coated with black bedliner.

True.. your truck had color matched everything else. So a chrome bumper will look out of place.
