    Can anyone tell me where the best place is to get a deal on the oem toyota oil filters?
    Also what is the correct part number, I know there is a D3 and a D1?? I'd like to maybe buy a case or at least 5-6 filters to last awhile.

    I got mine from @gunny1005 who works at Camelback Toyota for $3.58 a piece. So I bought 10 of them. The 90915 - YZZD1 is for the 3.4, but some people do use the larger YZZD3 for more filtering ability. Plus w/ gunny, there's no shipping or tax and a TW discount. The tax only applies if you live in AZ. Obviously, 10 of them was $35.80 OTD.

    I've been using the full synthetic fram ones because I only use full synthetic for my engine oil. Does anyone know if these oem filters are able to be used with full synthetic oil? I would assume yes but interested in others input thanks

    I am curious just what the difference is in a full synthetic filter ??

    Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    You can use either the D1 or D3, both have the same threads, D3 is a little longer and that's the one I've used in the past because it allows me to dump an even 6 quarts in the engine and not have to worry about toting a half quart around that inevitably starts leaking from around the cap before long.
    Sure they can, but, the Fram Ultra you are using is a superior filter to the OEM. OEM is good, but, if you want ultimate filtration ability, Fram Ultra or Amsoil filters are the ticket.
    They have a synthetic media that is more efficient and better at trapping contaminants, plus, the media doesn't break down like cellulose medias do over time. Typically, they can go longer on an change to. Fram Ultra, for example, has a 20k mile rating and many people use them for multiple changes or one long OCI.

    Thanks for the info, I didn't know they were superior to the oem and that they had such a long interval. I just change them out every oil change which is usually every 5-6K miles.

    There are lots of filter test on YouTube. Pretty much every brand has been cut open and compared. Lots done on the frams.

    Kings,total chaos uppers, Deavers, JBA headers, Borla exhuast, engine mods, DC power 270 amp alt, 2k watts of sound, gps alarm.
    Years ago this same forum somone took about five to ten of the top filters and dissected them carefully. I dont know who it was but it came down to the toyota filter being best, had the most filter material. Fram has always been junk wallyworld stuff I dont know about that syn filter from fram though.

    Yeah, I'm a one filter, one OCI person myself. Typically between 7 and 10k miles.

    I agree about the orange Fram being junk but the Ultra synthetic is top notch. Take a look here:

    This is the part number for Tacomas but I use the longer
    $9 XG3600 with SureGrip (Pack of 1)
    XG3600 so 6 quarts can fit in easily.

    Toyota used the same filter (among other parts) on a wide variety of vehicles and engines. The 4.7 V8 uses the same D3 filter. I believe the Camry and Highlander used the D1 filters. The 2.7 and 2.4 can also use these as my brother's '13 2.7 works fine with this. So 4Runner (3rd/4th/5th), FJ, and Tundra.

    I'd be interested what the new 3.5L takes :notsure:

    Same cartridge that goes in the newer Highlanders. No more spin on filters! Toyota's phasing them out, heck, come to think of it, the only engine off the top of my head I know of they still sell with a spin on is the 2.7 I do believe.
