hey man, are you just trying to be a dick ALWAYS? what's with that? take a look at yourself while folks like me are fighting through your attitude to dialog with you.

but i don't mind ATM... the answer to your question is a 100% unequivocal "yes". let's get along (and I'm not sure what this is about) or the blocks and ignores are coming and that helps nobody in this thread.

I'm sure you realize, but he's always pulling stuff like this in the OVtune threads.

I think you need to speak with Mat. If everything is installed properly and the dongle registration is good, you should be able to search for tune files.

What you need to do is bring it up to our level because you are just dumb, ignorant and always trying to stir shit up. Move on.

Depends on the weather when I wake up really, it’s been damn cold on Long Island the past few weeks. Look everyone has the right to spend their money on whatever they see fit. OVTune may be the best in the business, nicest guy in the world. I don’t really have any clue, but what I do know, if I was to spend $800 on a tune, that may or may not work fully on my vehicle, may degrade over time, may cause more misfires than a stock tune (acknowledged by the man himself) I would be pissed. It seems like he’s a bit in over his head with this stuff doing it alone. He’s got people that can’t even run the full tune and he’s already collecting parts to move onto a full twin turbo kit. Just doesn’t sit right with me, but like I stated earlier, everyone can do with their money as they please. I leave you fine folks alone, however I hope it works out. I’ve stated previously, just like the rest of you, I’m not happy with the power of the truck, especially driving through the hills upstate along with the rev hang (still has yet to be addressed).

    Thank you!

Without the early adopters and current hodgepodge of tuned Taco owners, we wouldn't be where we are today.
Their feedback, patience, and realization that THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND NOT AN EASY THING TO DO has made the driving experience much better. They gave up their hard earned cash believing that Mat could/would get it done. Hell, OVtune invested a sizable wad of money into R&D buying that Pro.. and that was made possible by the same group of tuned knuckleheads.
It is not perfect yet, but every release inches us forward.

I will remember that before coming on here and bitching about an imperfect product, essentially calling out these "dumbasses" for throwing money away.

    /rant

So 1.03 is going to be the final update. Seems like there are still a lot of bugs/quarks that might still need to be addressed.

You know, even it reverting back some due to the relearning I couldn't ever go back to stock.
I'm not sure what all the new updates he posted means but most of it looks to be refined or modified in a positive manner.
If that's true and he's figured out a way to eliminate or at least significantly reduce the learning I'll be the happiest mofo on the planet. Until then I'm thankful for a truck that drives a shitload better then when I bought it..!!

1.03 is going to be the final version for A/T. That doesn't mean there won't be minor glitch fixes down the road. As you can see from the 1.03 update list, there are a boatload of major upgrades coming. The biggest difference in this case is that Mat has an R&D truck to refine everything in-house. That hasn't happened before.

Ah, the way he worded it made me think there wouldn't be any updates after the next release. Do the A/t only have one ecu version? Manuals have what four now?

A/T's have 04B01, 04B02, and 04B03 AFAIK (excluding 2018 models of course). I believe through TSBs ,everyone should at least be at 04B02. I'm not an A/T guy and don't follow it very closely, so someone else could chime in on that.
M/Ts have three excluding the '18's.

Yeah but you're one of those 04B10 nutjobs :D

If we can't be sorted out better than we are (on par with the rest of the M/T crowd at least) after the next release/dyno day, honestly I'd have to agree. It's still worth something to me though, because even our "test tune" solves a lot of problems the truck has with the stock calibration.

To everyone reading this, 04B10 is approx 6 trucks out of everyone tuned at this point. For some reason, this early ECU version does not play nice with 1.03 M/T full version (severe problems with ignition - pinging, no power etc). 04B11/B12 do not have these kind of issues.

I keep reading about problems with 1.03, has it been released and I missed the update?

I'm definitely interested in this tune, but am curious to know if Toyota has worked out some of the 'crap' in the current 2018 automatics. I have a new 18, and am not 'happy' with the general transmission management. But I can say this about most cars/trucks these days due to EPA goals. I don't have a baseline to compare it to though. Is my 18 much better than the 16's? Are the TSB updates fixing the earlier models to be equal to the 18s? Just really not sure. In ECT mode the truck is a bit better; more linear and predictable response.

Gas mileage isn't what I'd hoped for based on the window sticker. I truly don't get it... my FJ was 11 years older, 0.5 liter larger, I drove it like I stole it, and over 190k miles I averaged 16.5 mpg mixed driving. This is via religious use of Fuelly. Highway miles were at 70mph plus (and we know that thing has the air profile of a brick), city driving was suburb stop and go. I ran duratracs and my Gobi rack. Truly shaking my head on this one. 11 years of development and this is where we're at? I got 16.3mpg out of my first tank with mostly ECT driving. I backed off of that and the pedal so we'll see what the second tank gets me. I expect it to improve slightly over the first 10 tanks or so, but darn I sometimes miss my old 4 liter.

So there really is a question buried in here... is the tune as valuable for owners of '18s? Or have many of the issues been corrected in the recent models?

And here's an off the wall question? If OV can improve mpg with this tune without impacting exhaust parameters, then what the heck is going on at Toyota? If their billion dollar development department can't do better than a small operation like this, the EPA has them tied up in knots so badly they don't know their ARSE from their ECU. There is of course the unknown marketing possibility that they need to differentiate the Taco from the Tundra. That's why I've always felt the 4Runner didn't have the towing capacity of the Sequoia.... it would eat into their sales.

Will this ever work on Mac? The only computer I have is a work MacBook Pro and they don’t let me install bootcamp or virtual machines on it.

I really don’t want to buy a cheap windows laptop to do this.

Anyone else with automatic experience surging under partial(light)load? I was pretty much coasting at about 45mph and 1250rpm, with just enough acceleration to keep in at the speed on a slight decline and it was surging pretty bad, not sure what’s up
