Buying the clear cover isn't going to make it work. The millimeter radar doesn't care it there is a clear shield in front of it. It's there to protect the radar. Check and make sure you have it plugged in correctly. Make sure you didn't bend one of the terminal tabs over. If everything checks out install the OE grill and see if it works. If it doesn't take it back to the dealer with the original grill in.

With the prices Larry Miller Toyota is charging for those dealer add-ons I hope that truck is still sitting on their lot this time next year.

So I painted the grille black to cover defects and blemishes as well as added 4 coats of clear coat. Went back and painted the T and A base black as well to match. Added inferno letters to match my truck.... so far im pretty happy with the results. The only thing i didnt do is add gorilla glue to the letters like some of you did... I was afraid of putting too much or it leaking from the letters after fitting them... but I do plan on maybe melting the tips on the back of the letters to hold them in place.... just curious on what the best tools to use for that part.. Heat gun? I will post more pictures once installed... im just letting it sit for abit for doing the install to make sure everything is dry.

PS. painting it left some what of a textured look but I kinda like it to be honest.

I also like the orange peel texture. It's gonna look great mounted.

I used a torch to heat up the end of a flat head screwdriver and than just used the tip of the screwdriver to melt down and smear the nipples that pop thru to weld it to the grill.

Here are before and after pictures of the old grille and new.... Looks good! I wasn't for sure about how it was going to turn out after painting the grille but it actually turned out great! instead of melting tips on the letters I ended up using gorilla glue on the tips of the on the back to give them an extra hold. Anyways after getting scammed from the first seller and then having to wait for the letters from areyourshop its finally done! in the end it was worth it. Even got a $40 refund from areyourshop after not receiving the letters the first time.

this is what I used Rust-Oleum universal Satin Paint and Primer in one Black
and Rust-Oleum 2x Ultra Cover Matte Clear for clear coat.

Now alot of people on here recommended the krylon black spray paint but I had this brand left over from another project... I was worried that the Satin would bring out too much of a glossy look but it actually turned out well.

Just a heads up. If you are buying on e-bay... Don't buy from anyone that has the ID history that posted below. I ordered mine on Dec 9 and still haven't gotten it. He did send me a ring. (Perhaps some unsuspecting soul got a TRD PRO grille somewhere..but I smell a scam). The seller will not communicate and he has a pretty long ID history. Since I received (..something) I have to do it as a return per e-bay policy. And I get to pay for the return. (It's small so not a big deal to get $130 back).

I suspect that he is selling items he doesn't have, taking payment, sending a small item, and then closing accounts. Most users are either going to give up... or will end up getting paid back by ebay and he gets out clean since he is in China. (My suspicion at least)

Anyway - would be good if there was a compiled list of verified ebay sellers somewhere.

I ordered a grille.... this is what I got (lol):

So what do you think the issue is? The sensor just bolts up, I don't understand how the Pro grill could cause the issue?

Im thinking the location of the sensor has removable panel on the front grill of pro thats the only thing that i didnt test, u can remove that portion and i hope it fixed the issue but it will leave the senor exposed from everything

Others on the forum have successfully installed the Pro grill on the '18. Your the first I've hear of having an issue. If you use a peice of lexan or plexi that should protect your sensor. By the way the sensor is very expensive to replace so protection fron rocks is a must. I just got my grill for my '18 and going to install mine in a few days.
