What is your list of cons? Have you ever seen posts people have made actually showing what they have drained from their catch can? Not arguing just curious!

After spending more than 40 years turning wrenches for a very good career and pension, I can tell you for a fact some Engineers do not know squat! I am convinced more than one Engineer has caught his Wife in bed with a Mechanic and engineered some things just to get even!

This 100%. If you're worried about build up on your valves, add a bottle of Techron Fuel System Cleaner to a full tank of gas every few thousand miles.
Even that shouldn't really be necessary unless you're running really crappy fuel with no detergents.

I installed a catch can on my 2015 Colorado, because it had no way of keeping the the back of the valves clean, and there was photographic evidence of
heavy build up after only a few thousand miles. Many direct injection engines from various manufacturers have the same issue, but Toyota did their best to eliminate
that problem in the case of the third gen. Tacoma engine.

Warranty mostly. I'll do one after warranty is up.

I have one on my JGC SRT8.

As long as its a quality product and gets serviced regularly, they're gtg.

Two pages and the question was STILL not answered!
Forget about the oil catch can. Question is:
    - can I disconnect the rubber hose from the PCV going to the intake nipple and stick it outside the truck without engine problems?
    - can I plug the intake nipple where the PCV hose would have been connected?
Doing this is the engine going to run OK or get alarms? I don't care about the oil, fumes, vapors, gremlins going into the open air.
    ***
The reason for the oil catch can is to be nice to the tree huggers and not pollute the environment as opposed of just routing the hose from the PCV outside. From PCV to oil catch can to capture the bad stuff. Intake nipple where the hose was connected plugged.

Provent makes them and is OEM for many German auto manufactures.
I installed the 200 in my '94 Chevy K2500 Suburban 6.5 Turbo Diesel to keep the intake side of the turbo dry of oil blowby which can cause a run away condition. It worked very well.

The answer is NO because it is a vacuum system and not keeping it a closed loop will throw a vacuum leak code and turn on your "CEL" Check Engine Light

The pcv valve is just a check valve. You plug it's entrance into the intake and it's spewing into the atmosphere.

Same reason that there isn't there a dipstick on the differential. It is simply not needed, I suppose.

Imagine if you could dump combustion byproducts into the air and somehow not have them count towards your emission budget.

"Closed crankcase control" was among the first mandated emission control.

Yes Sir I understand that but the check valve is probably not tight enough to not throw a code from a vacuum leak and turn on the CEL. The system is so well monitored by the ECM that it must be closed. But Feel free to give it a shot on your truck and let us all know what happens. I would not want the oil and mess under my truck and if you were to get caught in a state that performs inspections there might be some complications from it. I will be the first to eat crow if it does not turn on the CEL.

As I mentioned before, dumping crankcase to air has been illegal longer (I suspect) than most people on this board have been alive.

Don't complain. My car has no dipsticks - not even on the oil. :(

Not familiar under the restraints of turd geners ecu programming. But it's VERY common on turbo'd and sc'r runners to just vent this shit to air. Without vacuum leaks. While holding vacuum and pcp w/o codes.

I'm not going to argue you about it. I did it on my best gen for about an oil change w/o an issue. 20 h/g maintained vacuum.

After that. I installed a catch can. Because chiltens. And their chitlens.

    I've collected 1 to 1-1/4 quarts to date. 25k miles s/c'd.

Key here is supercharged, creating positive charge of intake air and overwhelming the crankcase system.

    You trolling? :)

It involves some lengths of injection rubber tubing and a power coated Amazon.com catch can, plus some Brillo, whats the crackheads use. You know. To smoke their crack?

I have been running one now for over 29K miles. I can say every time I empty it, I am glad that goop is not going in my engine, and yes, get a good one or you till throw a code. Never been a problem with my set up.

That is about what I have collected in 25,000 miles too.(nasty stuff) I am just glad it has not went through the intake system. To me this whole thing is cheap insurance. I was not trying to pick a fight.
