Well when I installed mine I really didn’t know what I was doing. I just started drill and bolting. So far nothing fell off. Plus I’m a first gen I don’t know anything about 2nd gens or where the mounting point would be.

Not sure where I saw that it should take 3hrs to do solid motor mounts, but damn drivers side took almost that long.

But 2 motor mounts and coil bucket gussets done and that was too much work for being sick. Just got the transmission mount to do tomorrow.

Well slightly more of a noticeable grumble at idle and under acceleration, but other than that, the motor mounts don't appear to have any downside. Had some shit in the bed today so I couldn't see how it felt under acceleration, but the peace of mind while mobbing through the whoops is really where the benefit is going to be

Anyone have an idea if solo makes their front shock towers for 1st gens? Or are they only for second gens. Figured with their XLT kit that they’d make them

I think he was asking possibly because they don't advertise their wiy coilover towers / hoops for first gens on their website.

I live for the drama :humble:

I started to come to the same conclusion over time - but when I need to know, it's like trying to avoid that last piece of chocolate cake on the counter. lol

Anybody on here have experience running a front +3.5 kit with a rear SOA mid travel kit? I am looking at moving to an LT kit but have a hard time paying nearly the same price for a +2 kit as I would for a +3.5.

A long travel rear has a number of problems for the way I use my truck so I don't have immediate plans for a LT rear. However, if I do eventually do an LT rear I know I will want the +3.5" front so I can use the rear to its potential.

TC 3.5 LT, RCV axles, Demello sliders, BD light bar/fogs, LP6, DMZ rear, SOS skids, custom bumper, King 16" triples, Locked-on hydro rear bumps...
Unless you are for sure without a doubt know you wouldn't ever LT the rear...I would go 3.5. Would suck to realize later that you should have gone that route, but didn't. I have the TC SUA mid travel kit with mine which cruises around fine, but for high speed stuff it def limits the ride. If you get the 3.5 front...its only a matter of time before you consider LTing the rear. Only other thing is if you don't plan to put any glass on your ride, then with a 2+ kit and some cutting you get can away with stock panels.

Plus with the new bed cage / rtt designs from tt motorsports and others it's a lot easier to have a rear lt setup and do the rtt / overland thing.

Yeah thats why I don't want the +2 kit. I would love to go rear LT right now but the problem with LT kits in the rear is they don't carry any weight and I occasionally have to use the truck to tow a trailer/carry gear.

I like the look of the new Dirt Designs 3 link kit because the coils can be tailored to a broader weight category than a SUA leaf pack can. I also already have glass front and rear so there is no reason to go with a +2 kit to save from trimming. My front glass is just a 2" rise 2" flare so it may need to be upgraded to fully stuff the 3.5 kit but the rear is ready for long travel as is.

What i've been running for about 2 years. Freaking love it. I realize im a 1st gen..but still. No regrets here. Im saving for Links. But if i was in your shoes id do the TC kit as it is a simple install and still SUA for a better ride. You can get beefier springs to hold the weight. Won't pull the same travel as a truck with a full bed cage and such. But still ride better and pull close to the same travel as the front. Be a fun truck.

Yeah you are the only one I could think of that has the setup. I currently have about 13" of travel in the rear with a SOA setup but most of it is down travel and only about 5" up. I am working on tweaking a few things now that should give me 1 more inch of travel and then I would match what most of the +3.5" kits are pulling up front with the rear.

Then like you I would like to start saving to do a rear link kit.

Ah ok I was just going by your pic. Sounds like 3.5 is the ticket, although yea I would look into some 4 inch fenders.
