If you're not sure about the work stuff I'd surely just keep saving. No reason to spend a bunch of money when you don't have to even though it's tempting to have something of your own.

I hear you on the full size, the tundra sucks on gas mileage (15-16 city driving it like grandma) and technology compared to every other make, but payments made the end decision. The 15 Ram 1500 v8 gas gets much better mpg than mine... And usually isn't driven by me, if i drove it it'd probably get over 20mpg.

When I was looking for a trail rig, lots of people suggested the 7.3 diesel Ford excursion or pickup. Tons of power and gas mileage. That's what expedition portal has a featured build of.

But the interior space in the tundra is insane! Unfortunately, the worst use of it I've ever seen.

Thats still the plan as of now, I am still looking, partially for my own use, but also in the event I do lose my position I will need something asap.

Yea its a shame the tundra is still such a pig on mpgs. I dunno if I would save the ram gets much better. Mine is a ram and i get roughly 13.5 city/highway combo. Hell I probably don't ever even see 18 on the highway.

My brother had a 7.3 and 6.0 expedition. Were awesome rigs. IF I could "justify" a 3/4-ton diesel I would. Hell I would like one just for the fun of the diesel.

I think you're supposed to let us call you a waste of space, not do it yourself.

True, but if you needed something quick, there's plenty of cheap stuff out there all the time.

I haven't checked the actual mileage but according to the dash mpg thing, it's usually over 17. Guess I haven't mechanically checked the Tundra, but i don't want to see any less than what it displays!

Yeah I'd be all over the diesel, throw a propane injection and get a ton of mpg and power. But after the Tacoma going up in flames, unfortunately I'm pretty well over the trail rig idea for a while.

Well if I did get let go and need something quick I wouldn't be staying here. Something cheap isn't an option if I can't drive across the country lol. I need to just buy a diesel and a camper and set up shop.

Do it! That was my other guess that you wouldn't be hanging around here.

Campers are cheap this time of year. :boink:

Sadly no. While Denver has its perks and fun, I can't stand the people. PLus in oil and gas, gotta go where the work is.

    Anyone ever ordered from lapolicegear.com?

They had one of the "highest rated" basic first aid kits, i ordered it last year... Got an order confirmation and nothing since. No way to track on their site unless you were a member when you placed the order and i emailed last week with no response.

What do you not like about the people, if you don't mind me asking?

Quantity for me. Too many damn people, traffic is ridiculous. Nobody knows how to drive (city literally shuts down with trace amounts of snow due to crashes).

If you work a standard job, getting to the mountains is a chore due to the traffic you'll sit in if going for the weekend.

Denver is home to some of the nicest people that I've ever met, of course there are shit heads too, but you'll find that everywhere.

I've only been back in CO for 4? years and have seen the overall quality of an interaction decline... As far as the everyday people you interact with. But, when most consider it normal and ok to sit in a vehicle in stop and go traffic for hours each and every day... One doesn't have to wonder why everyone is in a bad mood.

Sure most are nice, but after the daily road rage, they aren't pleasant to the next people they see.

    Lol See above.

Im from Mt, and lived in WY. Its just the amount. I was spoiled. All through school Denver was the place to end up. People spoke of the outdoors and mountains and it sounds like home. But its just like any where else. Drive 2 hours to end up at an over packed outdoor area that is fenced off and regulated.

Not to bitch and complain, I understand that is what comes with the territory with this man people in a wanted area. That and as we all know, the cost of living is absolutely ridiculous. I make good money, more than most my age, but the fact that I can't buy a home, and hardly can rent my own place without a roommate or living in a shanty.

People are people wherever you go. Don't take me the wrong way lol I have met soem great people here, and if my path keeps me here in life than that is just fine with me. Ther are shitty people everywhere thats just life.

I definitely hear both of you on the traffic and ridiculous cost of living. Where you guys are obviously is expensive; our prices are increasing and approaching yours, and we're not even in the mountains! I will say that at least people where you are can drive, people here have no idea what they are doing. I swear it'll give you a heart condition.

I left the Denver area back in June. It sucked so bad i went on a four month vacation.

I'm now in the mountains away from people twangin on my fiddle and waking my clothes in a creek. Couldn't be happier. :goingcrazy:
