5100 ride quality

i got my 5100's from DSMS yesterdya and will be installing next week then get my TSB re-done because the dealership screwed it up. anyway i am wondering if anyone knows if there is a huge difference in ride quality between the .85 and 1.75 setting. i know its all about the coil compression. i dont want a real rough ride, i am also looking for a slightly rake forward, not exactly even. thanks

 

I don't think it will be much...maybe a little stiffer but still very comfy.

went from TRD billstiens (from susp TSB)

can't tell you from .85 to 1.75, but from stock to 1.75 I don't notice that much of a difference mainly due to the 5100 being superior to the TRD shocks.

i would say..."firm, yet forgiving".
the tiny stuff might be a little more rough, but all else is handled much better.

i thought that i would have the constant feeling that the shocks would "top out", but not the case.

 

the level is slightly forward raked.

i had already planned to use a 1" blocks if there was too much of a front high situation.

don't need them yet

i am leaning towards .85 because i do not want to add any additional lift now, i am keeping the stock rims and tires until they wear out, so i dont want them to look too small. if i get 1 inch lift from the tsb and i hear that the 5100's give 1 inch set at .85, then i have a stock look.

 

Is the ride with the 5100s set at 0 lift stiffer than the ride with the stock TRD Offroad shocks?

No...you aren't preloading the spring hence no lift.

 

Stock rear w/ TSB? If so, just let it settle.
