    This is good advice. The smoothest auto transaction I ever had was when I bought my wife's Highlander. I was basically following what @2ndGenJonny has lay'd out:
    1. Pre-Approved through my credit union
    2. Know exactly what I (my wife) wanted (Model, Engine, Trim Level, Options)
    3. Shop different dealers.
    4. Only speak to internet/ fleet sales. (Since I knew exactly what I wanted, I didn't play with the salesmen that pound the pavement)

    Fleet isnt always an option with some dealers, but most of those guys will take the sale. I know with Earnhardts I worked directly with finance and cut out sales when we bought the Focus.
