My friend is looking for a 3rd Gen 4Runner, with a budget of $7k.
Mostly looking at clean stock unmolested vehicles, but one I’ve found looks interesting, has some solid upgrades and is within price point.

    https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/d/1997-limited-toyota-4runner/6448400709.html

It’s a little higher mileage than we’d like, but he lists lots of recent services on wear parts. Seats don’t worry me or him. Mostly looking at the mechanical suspension/driveline/engine components to be in good (reliable) shape.

Unless the seller can prove receipts of all the recent work done, I’d think is a bit of a gamble.

What do you guys think about it ?!

I’ll ask, and yeah we’d really like to get something under 200k miles.

EDIT: he said the suspension has been on 1 1/2 Years, so pretty fresh. And he also said that he only did mild dirt roads/trails and such to get to camping spots. “Nothing too gnarly”

I had a family owned 97 4runner before my tacoma, and it was babied. Almost never offroad (until it was passed down to me) and only had a head gasket go out and the rear axle seals leak at 260k miles. Never a problem otherwise.
    I wish I still had it !!!

So I just got off the phone with Home Depot warranty department about my moms dryer going out ... they told me it’s company policy to lie to customers if the technician feels like he is in a dangerous situation. I was walking with the technician while I was holding my 8 moth daughter. I asked to speak to their supervisor and they hung up on me
