My 2010 Pro-4x has served me well, I plan to keep it until 2020. Should be interesting to see what's on the market by then.

I'm sure you're able to figure out Google. Toyota voluntarily recalled 2001-2004 trucks, there was never a lawsuit. They sued Dana and were partially reimbursed for first gen problems. Those trucks were covered by Limited Service Campaign 90D. There was a buyback of 1995-2000 trucks when they had excessive rusty frames.

The 2005 to 2008 have been covered by a similar LSC E0D and ESD since at last 2016. It's just recently that the class action suit expanded coverage on 2005 to 2009.

But it's not just Toyota. Ford's frames come from the same factory AFAIK.

My 2005 Dodge Dakota is serving me real well. It has a 4.7L V8 and I have been offered 12 k cash for it. I may just hang on to it to say I have a Mid size truck with a V8.

I think the reason he was only doing 2 years was because the 3rd Gen came out in 2016.

The small GM's must be taking a bite out of sales for them to put this out. They don't normally do direct attack ads. I know that I see a lot more of the small GMs on the road than I used to.

The Frontier has more usable torque down low than both the GM twins and Tacoma. It's a lot more truck than both.

Although the Frontier is very antiquated inside, it has some very good hardware.

Fully boxed frame, 4 wheel disc brakes (despite the argument sometimes seen here about the superiority of rear drums), and a very torquey big displacement V6 for starters.

The main reasons I didn't buy one is because of the comparatively poor MPG and the YYYUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEE turning radius.

The Tacoma has a much larger aftermarket and gets significantly better mpg.

The mpg is a big factor in trucks that are primarily used for day to day driving and not serious towing/work.

If you had someone offer that much money for a Dakota with a 4.7 take the money and run like hell. The 4.7 is just a ticking time bomb that one thermal event or one oil change that went a little too over away from being a tow truck potato with no home

If I want to drive something with all 4 disc brakes I will drive our Rav4. I can also ride my bike which has front and rear disc brakes.
