Yea, I can go Off Road with that and dont need to air down. If I could just get a front locker installed I would be set.

I was disappointed that Toyota and GMC made their midsize trucks slightly larger than the previous model (2G Tacoma). I also am not into all the electronic items they offer. The "dated" Frontier links to me iPhone se just fine. Besides my phone is set to do not disturb and knows when I am driving. The backup camera works well. The cruise control works well. I have no need for much more in the electronic side.

Yes the new Tacoma and GMC twins get a bit better mpg. The cabs are a bit more quite than the Frontier. They almost remind me of the T100 or an old F150 in size.

Wait. According to Sweers our mountain bikes should have caliper brakes on the rear and disc on the front? :jerkoff:

I went to a Chevy dealer hell intent on buying a new Colorado 4x4 z71. I left paying slightly more for a used 2017 TRD OR and was happy to do it.

They guy trying to convince us and himself that the trucks are equal is cherry picking data to back up his statements. He only goes back 2 years to pull Colorado numbers, when there is a 10+ year history to pick from. Why does he pick that? Because if you go back further his arguement falls apart. He claims, those were different trucks, but so is the 3rd gen Tacoma.
GM offers rebates and discounts on their trucks because they have to to sell. Toyota doesn’t because they know every single truck on the lot will sell at MSRP.

I've seen it many, many times here in Vermont. It's on constantly during Bruins games.

My buddy traded in his 16 trd OR for a 18 diesel zr2. Says he would never go back as it has better power, speed, fuel economy, interior, etc and no issues yet....

With a 9.7 second 0-60 time on that ZR2 diesel you can keep the "better power". Speed ?
    Like driving a dump truck.

How often are you doing wide open throttle 0-60 runs? "Better power" is subjective.

LOL yeah what a weird thing to bring up. Sure I love flooring it in third when I get on the highway, but worrying 0-60 times in this truck? My jeep is worse but I still enjoy getting up to speed in that more than the truck.

    LOL.
Survey said that most taco owners put towing at the bottom of the list. So give the ZR2 about 165 hp, a lot of torque for towing, and a 10 second 0-60 time and see what happens to sales is the case here IMO.
10 seconds is insanely slow, something to worry about when just getting on the highway wouldn't you think or even passing ???

... okay? If sales dictated what I liked I wouldn't be driving a manual.

Nah that's nothing to worry about getting on the highway, if you're starting at 0 you're either stopped on the on-ramp in which case (a) wtf are you doing or (b) you're in one of those weird states that puts stop signs on on-ramps and everyone is ready for that. You should already be going at least 40 before you get into the disappearing lane, and at that point you'll be able to get up to proper speed easily.

0-60 time also has nothing to do with passing.

If you like the Taco great, I bought one too after all. But if you're going to say that 0-60 is a worthwhile comparison to other trucks expect others to counter with how silly it is to worry about that at all.

"Passing power is borderline acceptable" according to motortrend. i.e. it almost sucks. So I guess it is related to 0-60, huh ? Getting on the interstate even at 40 is a problem now isn't it ?

My work truck is a 2016 Colorado extended cab 4cyl 4x2. It averages 17 mpg, is under powered, shudders betweem 5 and 45 mph, rides rougher than my 2016 OR TRD 4X4. I would never buy one of these.

Well yeah, it's a truck. I'd say passing is borderline acceptable in the Taco as well compared to the rental Mazda3 I had last month. No it's not related, it's a feature of the fact these are big heavy vehicles.

Also driving tip - If you're in a situation where a slow pass would be dangerous, don't pass until the car that's coming up and causing that danger has gone by. Especially if you drive an automatic, because a badly timed downshift will be a lot more dangerous than one truck clunking up to speed slower than another.

And finally, if you re-read my post you'll see I'm talking about the lane that slowly ends and merges with the right lane. On many on-ramps (where I am) you'll be going 40 because you just came out of a very long and (relatively) tight turn. Then you use that lane to get up to speed which in any vehicle will be fine. So no, not a problem.
