I mistakenly assumed that the floor mats for the 2018 would be the same for the 2017. Looks like the 2018 have floor clips in the passenger side whereas 2017 tacos do not. So, I am wondering if the 2017 passenger floor mats will fit in my 2018 taco.

It it possible to remove those little protrusions (where you put the clips in) from the passenger foot area? I tried earlier, but it looks like it is on tight. My floor mats should be here in a couple of days.

I hate that my passenger side doesn't have the clips for the passenger. I need to do some Velcro as that mat is always sliding around.

For sure you can remove the tabs, but why would you want to...I’d just send the 17’s back and get the correct mats. I’m still waiting for my toyota ones. Have the fabric ones in till they get here.

Eh, its going to be a pain to return the floor mats. I think I am just going to put in the '17 mats in without removing the tabs. Hopefully it doesn't look too awkward.

Mine is a 2017 but as I understand it the 2018 Tacos have twisting plastic things to secure floor mats in on the passenger like the drivers side does right? And your floor mats won't have a hole for them?

Could you take some time and carefully cut out proper sized holes? Just large enough to let the plastic twist lock things through? Or is the conflict in something else?

I was looking into getting some Husky floor liners but they didn't show 2018 Tacoma. I emailed the company a couple days ago and the emailed me back and said they will be offering them for the 2018 in a couple of weeks.

My Husky weatherbeaters do have the retention cutouts. Husky part number 13961, for the good transmission.

Drill a hole and epoxy a stainless or plastic grommet through the low side, to prevent water from going through the hole?

For those shopping, I had the OEM ones but for true all weather mats I found them lackluster. minimal coverage area, still really easy to get your carpets dirty. swapped for Weathertech and couldn't be happier. my wife even spilled an entire beverage on one, probably a solid 20 oz and every bit of it was held in the weathertech, wouldn't have been so lucky with the OEMs.

that said, I'd wait for Weathertech to release some with the holes for the 2018 clips. You'll need to do some work in punching holes in them yourself and then you'd want to put something like a grommet around them to keep water from seeping through. better to get ones designed for the 2018s.

Do you have installed photos? Would like to see true coverage in both front and back.

I'm a Weathertech fan, but am very content with my OEM Tub Mats.

So, if the 18s have the clips on both sides, does anyone know the part number for the OEM floor clips? That would make this mod even easier if you have 16-17. No need to worry about measuring or drilling off the right spot if the mat.

Just FYI, part number for the 2018 OEM all-weather tub mats is PT908-35175-20 (manual transmission). They have the cutouts for the retention knobs for the passenger front seat.

I used the 2017 mats (part number PT908-36165-20) for about six weeks until the 2018 ones became available. There was some sand that made it through to the carpet in that time, but I did not find any salt stains when I swapped in the 2018s today.

I also tried the weather tech weatherbeater (not x-act fit, which they don't seem to make for manual transmission), for about two weeks. They have better coverage mainly because walls are higher around the perimeter. I found that there was a slight but annoying interference with the clutch pedal.
