My days of voluntary walking around outside when it's below 45* are over. :rofl:I pray for the day that the wife will finally agree to move somewhere warm. I can't stand the cold. The only time I don't mind it is when there is 3"+ of snow on the ground. The rest of the time I despise it.

I found some better places while I was down there last month. Still lots to explore!

I am heading down to TN this weekend. I am wanting to skip out on a hotel. Looking for a hammock tent that I can rig up on the hitch of the Taco. Anywhere here in the Louisville area that'll have something like that that I can pick up?

A hammock will be cold since air is able to pull heat from all around you. I'd recommend a ground tent. But if you're set on the hammock, check out any outdoor store. Amazon would be a good, and maybe cheaper, option also with 2 day shipping

I have all my gear from the military still. The bivy sack, black and green bag. And the ISO mat. Id like to stay off the ground to keep from getting wet as much as possible.

I can understand wanting to be off the ground, I always use a hammock when I'm by myself. The wife has to have a tent though...

Is the hitch high enough for a hammock? I've hung mine off my roof rack but haven't tried it from the hitch

Hitch alone is too low, tied to my front bumper hoop at hood height and was still too low but doable

Just across the river in Indiana is a HUGE Bass Pro Shop, if they don't have what your looking for no one does.

I'd also consider getting a sleeping mat or air mattress and just sleeping in the bed with the tailgate down.

Quest or Bass Pro. Quest is worth the visit any chance you get.

Edit: if you can't find something in Louisville, Nats Outdoors in Bowling Green is on the way if you're headed down 65. It is very similar to Quest.

Bass Pro has just about everything. Quest has everything that's super cool and high quality. Quest has larger price tags. Outdoors porn.... Operated by people who use the stuff they sell.

Small-ish....but a decent park. Close for many of us....Just over an hours south of Louisville. Looks to be re-opening with a little more effort than previous attempts.

Open's March 2nd. May be a small Saturday "day trip" to check it out sometime in Early March. (Close to my Moab trip and the LBL meet many of you will be going to.)

I'll start a thread once I see a little more evidence the place will in fact open on schedule.

    Cheap? (You and/or cover charge)

It closed last time because they couldn't afford insurance. Gotta charge something to pay their expenses. Would expect higher honestly.

Right. $15 isn't bad considering it's almost a 3 hour drive for me
