Yea, same BS. I do love these trucks. I've had five of them, and by and large great vehicles. I did field work around the SW for thirty years and rented various off-road vehicles, and none compare with the Toyotas. My opinion anyway.

Now that we have rear driveshaft greaseable ujoints to replace the non-greaseable ujoints on the late 2016 and 2017, if any of you who have a 2018 have crawled underneath and seen if Toyota got smart and put them back on the 2018s. Inquiring minds want to know.

    And Merry Christmas everyone.

Has anyone got a part #/source for the Spicer product that Gear crunches suggested using vs Toyota rebranded Spicer part?
    Thanks j

Click on the pics of the greasable u-joints, they will tell if it is greased at the bearing or the cross.

Click on "Compatible With Applications" and it will tell you which truck model and location it is compatible with.

From what I understand, SPR 539 is a casting number; not a part number.

Thanks for posting. Using Compatible... link it looks like there are more than one for 2017 4WD, which best?

The Toyota part number for the spider with zerk fittings that is for 2016-18 is 04371-0K082

I put that up here somewhere. I used the micrometer and it's the same size, and has the same casting number (539) as the 2017s without zerks.

I would choose greasable at the bearing. Easier access and doesn't weaken the cross with a tapped hole.

I agree, but this is the one Toyota has for these trucks. Splitbolt has said that they do exist, I just haven't found any.

That's great splitbolt. You can get either ones with zerks at the bearing or cross. I assume your local parts store can order them.

The Spicer ujoints that fit my 2017 TRD OR, built March 2017, have Spicer part numbers 5-213X (zerk at cross), and 5-1330-1X (zerk at bearing). Note that on my driveshaft, the bearing cap diameter is 1.062". These are the only two ujoints with that bearing size. The others are 1.188" and won't fit mine at least, although Spicer says these are all for 2017 Tacomas: https://www.danaaftermarket.com/sea...nt&cat1=115&y=2017&mk=Toyota&md=Tacoma&sort=1

Toyotas part number for Spicer 5-1330-1X is 04371-0K082 (with zerk at bearing end).

2018 TRD OR DCSB (texas built) ... Found the two greaseable ujoints on the front and put a few pumps into them before it started to come out. No grease fittings on the rears.

I’ve got a 2016 manufactured in October 2015 and greased my u joints today for the third time. I’ve only got 34,000 miles on my truck. One of my zerk’s was spitting grease out after I removed the grease gun. Should I remove the zerk and try to clean the ball bearing and spring out or just replace the zirk with a new one? If replace is the best option, anyone know what size zirk I need? I’m assuming it’s metric but not certain what spicer uses.
