Installing Morimoto HID Headlights - installation guide?

@Gooney here's another post. Just read through this short thread. Also, my garage door is not flat, it has steps and curved on its surface as to why the light line isn't perfectly straight lol

I am setting up to install like this. however do you think its safe to coat the aluminium with plastidip? I feel the sheet needs to be more of a heat sink and i dont want it to catch fire from the hot ballasts....

 

How hard is it to cut the 1/8" aluminum sheet? & what did you use?

 

Relatively easy if you have the proper tools. I used a jigsaw with a sharp new blade that was made to cut metals and aluminum. Then used an electric rotary hand sander to sand edges and corners

 

Never ever used PlastiDip on anything. Doesn't last, wears easily, fades etc. $0.02

If anyone can create a cad file, I will be able to laser cut it at my work out of metal. Let me know I am thinking about making a few of these if you guys really like them, let me know. PM and if the interest is high I will make a batch of these.

Nice install and thanks for sharing I got 35w kit and will be installing this weekend hopefully. Brackets look great guys I will have to fab something similar to mount equipment, keeps it nice and clean looking.

I ended up using the T bracket and a piece of metal that was in garage. Markout and drilled a couple holes to mount and here it is. Only thing I regret is getting the powder coated T, after I bent it the coating cracked off. I should have known better, I'll change it one day. Went for a test drive and was happy with the output, however one car flashed me. I think I saw a bounce from drivers side, it doesn't seem to be as snug as the passenger side maybe the grommet is not seating correctly? Some before and after shots

 

After seeing some of the metal brackets created, i ended up printing my own. Seems to be holding up good so far. Had them in for about a month now.

 

Sir, do you still have the dimensions? If so I would like them so I can get them for mine. I just got the HID delivered today, looking to do it tomorrow.

 

Looks like styrofoam? Or what did you use?

Are those self tapping screws?
I think so and wish I had looked more closely at the provided pic.
I drilled my T-Bracket out to same size hole as the relay harness and ballast.
Gonna have to go with nut and bolt on drivers side and self tap on the passenger side ballast.
