if its one thing working at the airport has done for me, im damn near immune to everything, even though i was permanently sick the first year there. all i get now are some minor allergies here and there.

 

So, serious question here.

Has anyone here ever TRULY had insomnia? What was the cause, and the treatment?

I've found that I can only sleep about 3 hours at a stretch anymore, max. I'm becoming concerned that it may either be a real medical condition, or due to some kind of real medical condition.

 

Not me. I do often sleep for an hour or so, get up for 30 minutes then go back to sleep for the next 4 hours. But then, I've been doing it since I was a kid.

 

Never diagnosed with insomnia but I do have apnea (that I can’t stand the machine for) that causes blood pressure issues that cause stress and anxiety about sleeping that causes sleeplessness...

 

Dammit!

This is the second time this month I've taken a company radio home with me!

With all the extra winter clothing, I don't feel the extra weight on my belt.

 

I did that once at the jail, only to have to bring it back as soon as I realized I had it on my belt at home; 45 min back, 45 min home... 2:15+ of driving after an 11-7 was not fun. Never did it again after that

 

How long has this been goin' on?

 

When I was off I started having some problems getting to sleep. Dr. told me to take 2 Benadryl before bed. Worked like a charm. Third shifters also have problems with waking up and getting sunlight exposure wich makes it difficult if not impossible to get back to sleep. Blackout your bedroom windows and bath if possible. Ear plugs if noise is a problem. And change some light bulbs that you use during the evening to full spectrum to get the artificial sunlight that your body needs to balance itself.

A while now, but it's been really bad the last 2 weeks or so.

I talked to my wife tonight, she thinks I might have apnea, and I agree.

I'm gonna call my doctor in the morning and get it checked out.

 

Looks like I’m going to be out Feb 6 to March 23. Could possibly go back March 6 if I could do light duty.

Not nights, but I've worked 12-hr shifts for the better part of 20 years.

I did a little over 2 years worth of 12-hr night shifts, but that was a really long time ago. I was much younger and single then, I think both of those factors make a huge difference.

 

You becha! I've worked shifts & erratic hours since the '70's, everything gets altered, studies prove it. Sometimes it's little things like I walk the dog when I get home @ 6AM. I tried a Philips light skeptically, but found it actually worked. Hope a solution is near.

 

Are those kinda lights available at a hardware store? I could use one in my room.
