Good for you for pursuing this. Hope something comes of it. When I had my truck inspected in the spring they didnt even undercoat it, just checked it and said I was good to go. Then 6 months later I find a 2" hole in the frame that was underneath some of the old undercoat the previous owner did.

My truck is american so the recall that went through toyota canada got approved by toyota USA I believe. But ill be doing the frame swap through a dealer in toronto anyways.

Question about having the tow hitch replaced. I read that some of your dealers replaced the tow hitch as part of the frame recall. I just got my truck back and they wouldn't do it, said it would be about $1k for a new one. I called Toyota Corporate and they said that the factory tow bar isn't covered. So how did some of you manage to get a new one put on during the frame replacement? Or did your dealerships just eat the cost, which I highly doubt.

Brought my 07 x cab 2 wheel to my dealer on Nov. 1 . I have had 2018 F150 4x4 4 door from then on . Toyota missed this one again on the rust . They do step up with good service on a very long term problem.

So that’s why my hitch looks as new as the frame, leafs etc. Makes sense.

I’m spending the morning at the stealership for the frame recall. They told me it won’t be replaced but will be covered with some type of black tar type goop and they have to put it on one day and let it sit until the next day to dry. Anyone else have this done???

I did, two years later the frame had holes in it. My truck has been at the dealer since 10/3/2017. I called the service rep three times this past week with no response. The goo doesn’t work. It just hides the rust underneath.

What's this stuff look like? Got some pic's? The parts on my install were all factory coated, nothing more.

@FastEddy59, I know the thread is long but you should thumb through it. I’m pretty sure I’m double posting these pictures. There is some good information here.

Mines definitely not like that. I saw that earlier but thought it was user applied. I've got some numbered/barcode like stickers on most replaced parts so I know nothing more has been applied

The coating was put on at the dealer in 2014. In 2016 the same dealer found those holes in my frame.

I don't understand why Toyota would do the repair different ways? Rust is rust, replace the damn part.

Can you do me a favor and look on the paperwork from your dealership and see if the the hitch is labeled as warranty? Or let me know how the parts and labor charge is labeled. Thank you in advance!

Will do. Thing is I bought the truck off lease so when it was returned, Toyota did all the work before I even bought it. That's their policy so I hope there's a record of it that I can access. Noticed upper control arms, shocks & springs & driveshaft were new too. I'll see what I can find.

I just showed up at the dealer yesterday because they would call me back. This is how it sits now. The CRC is obviously a joke.

    F960DB03-AD51-4067-9413-BCAD45430020.jpg

I took more pictures but for some reason they didn’t focus. It still has a long way to go. The drivetrain is still sitting in the old frame.

Just got my 07 back from the dealership a few weeks ago with a new frame. Zero complaints, they did a great job.
