Hey guys im new on here and just got an automatic 2010 Tacoma DC. I love the truck but there are a few problems im noticing.. sometimes when the truck has sat over night and i go to start it and turns over but almost sounds like its going to die out then catches it self and starts..it does not do this everytime..also when im going in a parking lot and rolling around 5mph and then push the gas it seems like the engine revs up but the speed does not increase and then it finally catches and takes off.. Last problem is that i whenever i wash my truck and then step back and look at it seems that there are a ton of surface scratches in the paint.. any onee have these problems or thoughts on what i should do?

I have an idea for the first problem. Before you start the truck, turn the key to the "on" position for a second or two. This lets the fuel pump pressurize fully. Hopefully, it will start quicker. BTW, welcome to TW.

Starting to think that because they knew they were losing their jobs the EEs didn't give a shit and gave the '10 a bad rap.

The paint on these trucks is soft. Not durable. Thats a common complaint I noticed on this site. I suggest even though its new, you put a good coat of Meguairs # 26 carnuba wax on it. It will add some protection.

There are 'tsb's' for the first 2 issues that you explained. One for the random no start issue and another that will will reprogram the transmission to shift better.

fuel pump doesn't turn on till the engine turns. Once you start cranking the fuel pump kicks on. As for the tranny go to your dealership i think there is a TSB for that sort of thing.

I guess you are right about that on these trucks. I just tried it on my Tacoma, and you cannot hear the fuel pump fire up. My last truck (a 2004 Silverado) you could hear it when you put the ignition in the on position. Sorry, my advice was useless in this case.

After the engine breaks in the second problem should go away; I've noticed this in a lot of new cars. You should notice a significant gain in power after break in as well.

Technical Service Bulletin. It's a bulletin car makers send to the dealers with information on how to repair common issues. It is not the same as a recall.
