No sir! Going to put them on the fj wheels i have on my red truck right now! I put those on my daily so i could wear down the michelins that came with them.. i have a hard time getting rid of a set of tires that have a lot of life left on em so ive been using them for my commute to work lately.

 

Very good!! I agree with ya, its hard to swap things out that still have a lot of life left.

 

I agree! Its just about as hard as wearing out a set of michelins. Ive been driving exhuberantly too and they dont seem to be wearing at all lol.. im ready for some bigger tars though! Cant stand the way it looks in my signature pic with the little donuts on it

I agree! They dont look that bad but damn it looks sooo much better with some 285s!

Are yours 285/70/17 or 285/75/17?

its literally the perfect size tire for the Tacoma IMHO

Yeah i really like 285s on tacos, theyre probably my favorite size too. I was considering some 285/70/17s but i figured the biggest id ever go was a 285/75/17 (34s) so i think ill just do that from the get go so i dont get the urge to go up another size. Plus im pretty sure my poor little truck would have trouble turning dirty fives lol..

The plan is to regear later on with some 4.88s to help with all the weight and hopefully help turn the 285/75s.. im sure itll be a snail either way though

Your FJ wheels, got me here. With all the good stuff going on, I think, I’ll hang around.

What are your the specs on the FJ wheels? Particularly, offset/BSpace.

Im not entirely sure on the backspacing on the fj wheels, but from what ive read the offset is 15mm so they stick out 15mm more than regular taco wheels that have a +30mm offset..

Ive read that the backspacing is 5” but im not 100% sure. Ill have to measure sometime. Ive see some people on here run 285s without needing spacers to clear the Uca’s, so thats why they were appealing to me. I also like the way they look

Also, they 17x7.5 so you can run 285s without at issue vs many of the 7inch wide rims that tacos come with

Edit: ill measure the backspacing on my spare whenever I get home later today

 

Hey there sorry for the delayed response.. i checked the backspacing today and its between 4.75 & 5 inches but it was hard for me to tell with 100% certainty.. its somewhere in between there for sure though
