Which ram did you end up with again after the PW was totaled? Was it another power wagon?

I'm thinking about looking at a local 2015 PW today... I just have this itch to get into something bigger than the taco and the PW just looks like it'll be the ticket.

PW tradesman is no joke just look at where @RPS1030 has taken his.

If I had the space to put one in my garage, I would consider losing the Tacoma for a PW.

Im not sure he has a build for the PW but for the truggy.
@RPS1030 can probably dump a few photos of his. Hes done 37s, bed rack/rtt and lights.
It did a lot of trials in Moab and some of our much tighter trials here in Phoenix. Good driver mod enabled but that truck is so very capable.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
I went with a tradesmen Cummins with the g56 manual. It's a tow pig and daily for me.

She's leveled, tuned and deleted and gets me 17MPG in town and 22+ on the highway. I'd take this Cummins over the 6.4 hemi hands down. But no stock lockers and what not. The pw is nice but there is something to be said for having a Cummins with a nice suspension and tossing in a set of lockers.... that's the cats was.

Yeah I think if the budget could afford it I'd go cummins and be done with it. Or more likely a new Duramax, as I've had a bit of a love affair with their transmissions.

The only reason I've really been kicking around a PW was the price of this used one.

    http://www.huffautogroup.com/used/Ram/2015-Ram-2500-0416bb6a0a0e0adf10937696ee694504.htm

At only 2 years old and 34,000 miles it seems like a fair deal at $36,900. Anything I should look out for if I go test drive it? I'm really not going to tow too much with it, but at the upper end of my towing needs I'd want it to be able to carry my 6,000lb JKU on a single place car trailer.

@RPS1030, how has yours done towing? @loco, did you ever get a chance to tow anything with the PW before it was totaled?

You can still build and/or find the PW in the Tradesman trim level new. I got my '16 for 40,xxx +ttl.

Depending on region and frequency, I have no real qualms about towing with mine. Lighter weight about once a month it's great. Once that JKU is on a legit trailer, you're pushing 9k. Won't be a ton of fun every weekend or on the really steep stuff.

My biggest limiter is actually engine oil temps. They can start creeping up if I stay in the throttle on a longer/steeper climb. The A/T is rock steady at 168 degrees though.

PW rear suspension is softer than any other 3/4 ton, but is otherwise very stable. Mine has stopped my regular vehicle changing for the foreseeable future.

My first recovery after leading the trail run in my truck...

All things considered I got my Tradesman Cummins for 34k out the door. I wouldn't trade my current truck for my power wagon. Tows better and the MPG is great.

If you hunt around you can find good deals on the the diesel trucks.

My PW was horrible on gas and didn't take to towing a heavy load well in general. The pw tows like a 1500 but gets crap mileage.

Unless you plan to use the 2500 off-road like Ryan I would go get a diesel. Throw on some Carli or Thuren suspension bits and if you feel like you need the lockers get a set of Arb air lockers and you will have a better set up than the actual PW... and a diesel... and 20 MPG. And bitches love diesels.

Yeah I won't be towing often, but I want that capability in case I need to get the JKU somewhere that I shouldn't be driving. There's a lot of trails we do that risk damage and I don't want to be in the situation of having to find my way home after driving my JKU to a trail and breaking it.

Larger things like a 4-place snowmobile trailer or a larger boat are two things I'd like to get in the future, and likely would use the truck to pull.

With a trailer and the JKU youre pushing the PW if you plan to also put a cooler in the back and a couple if folks.

The issue with the PW is the payload... it's not even 1500 range really. That's why I stayed away when it was time to buy another truck. Because believe me the PW was at the top of my list again after I got back from being deployed.

Yeah, no way I'll be using it for offroading. I have $55k+ into my JKU, sitting on 40s w/ Dana 60s front and rear. Too much invested in that Jeep just to turn around and wheel a truck. Mine's the green one, sitting next to a stock suspension Rubicon w/ 33s

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.

Now what you could do is get a 6.4 Hemi 2500 and drive the piss out of it. Higher payload than my Cummins but tow rating is lower. You get the reduced maint of a gasser but enough ass to actually tow the JK. You could find yourself one of those easy. Just stay away from the 5.7 hemi in the 2500s.
